That's pretty cool. I wonder if it'll be connected to the greater MCU? And if it is, what does that relationship mean with Netflix who has had a great marriage with Marvel?
That was my exact question, is this in the MCU or on an island by itself Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
It is odd. Disney and Netflix have a pretty significant partnership. http://www.forbes.com/sites/alishag...tar-wars-and-pixar-in-september/#6ac07f1a322b
Remember Fox, NBC, and ABC each own 30% of Hulu. It could be that since some of the runaways are mutants and iirc part skrull that Fox might have a piece of the pie. Or it could be that it was originally developed for ABC and pulled because AoS really doesn't pull that big of numbers. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
I've heard they're rethinking their approach to ABC/Marvel properties. I think they're going to go lower budget and really try to focus on small picture stuff. I think they bit off more than they could chew with AoS and then when Perlmutter fell out with the rest of the crew, continuity fell to s***. So if they stay small in scope, they can adjust easier on the fly.
I think there are two very hard things that come with trying to make any show for network a success. One is the demand to be episodic. In an entertainment landscape where you can binge watch what are essentially 8-13 hours movies people no longer want to watch monster of the week shows anymore. Two with the plethora of "comic" inspired entertainment folks aren't just going to tune it cause it says marvel or dc on it. Marvel entertainment pre fallout seemed to think that as long as they name dropped fans were going to be happy. Thankfully disney shook things up, but sadly it keeps on trucking with the comics.
Their only comic I cannot stop reading right now is Vision. I cannot recommend it enough. It's fantastic. Black Panther is okay, Doc Strange is okay, Moon Knight isn't bad, Han Solo is pretty good... Everything else?... Oi. Civil War seems like either a concept that's too large for them to tackle or they're not tackling it well enough. Either way it's been a heavy comic in which somehow too much and not enough is happening at the same time.
" Michael Pena Confirms Return For Ant-Man And The Wasp (Photo: Marvel Studios) Following his scene-stealing performance in Ant-Man, Michael Peña has confirmed he’s reprising his character Luis for Ant-Man and the Wasp. Fans, of course, will fondly remember Peña's character from the first Ant-Man film. Luis was introduced to moviegoers as Scott Lang’s former cellmate. One of Ant-Man’s allies, Luis provided plenty of comedic relief in a film already filled with pointed laughs. The character is perhaps best remembered for Ant-Man’s ending scene as fans watched Luis ramble on about the Avenger’s interest in Scott's alter-ego. The long-winded explanation has been immortalized in all sorts of Youtube homages and Internet memes, solidifying fans’ support for Ant-Man's sort-of sidekick. Currently, Ant-Man and the Wasp is set to start shooting sometime next year. Directed by Peyton Reed, the sequel will star Paul Rudd (Scott Lang) and Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne/The Wasp) as leads alongside Michael Douglas (Hank Pym). Kevin Feige will act as executive producer, and the film is slated for a June 2016 release. Of course, the franchise's titular hero has been seen since his big screen debut. Ant-Man appeared most recently inCaptain America: Civil War where he sided with Team Cap, going so far as to reveal his Giant Man stature to secure the patriot's safety. So far, Marvel Studios has remained tight-lipped about where Ant-Man and the Wasp will take the franchise. Peyton Reed did confirm that Evangeline Lilly would not play a support character in the film. Speaking with Modern Myth Media, the director said, “I always thought of Ant-Man and Wasp as a team and that’s a lot of what the second movie is really about is how they work together, what their personal and professional relationships are like. To show her finally fully formed in this movie is really exciting.” “We really get to introduce this character into that universe. I mean we’ve introduced the character, but we haven’t seen her with her full power set and everything, so to me she’s not a supporting character in this movie. It’s every bit as much her movie as it is Scott Lang’s,” he finished. The director also mentioned Michael Peña in the interview, saying he couldn’t afford to lose any part ofAnt-Man’s cast. “We had an amazing cast- Paul [Rudd] and Evangeline [Lilly], and Michael Douglas and Michael Peña. You kinda can’t lose with that cast,” he explained. As for Peña, the actor has just finished work on Collateral Beauty alongside Will Smith. His next projects include a remake of CHiPS and The LEGO Ninjago Movie. The actor also garnered critical praise after his recent role in The Martian. Ant-Man and the Wasp is set to crawl into theaters June 28th 2016." http://comicbook.com/marvel/2016/08/19/michael-pena-confirms-return-for-ant-man-and-the-wasp/
Love Nathan Fillion. This only makes GotG 2 even more anticipated for me "‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ Casts Nathan Fillion as Wonder Man Mike Sampson | April 25, 2016 @ 1:58 PM Marvel James Gunn and Nathan Fillion have worked together on a number of projects from Slither to Super to the first Guardians of the Galaxy. Fillion has become the John Ratzenberger of the works of James Gunn. That collaboration is set to continue in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, which will bring Fillion back as a classic Marvel superhero. A local Georgian took pictures of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 set outside in Atlanta, which is interesting in and of itself because Guardians of the Galaxy takes place in outer space and should have no need for a folksy Main Street set. But, Marvel is shooting a few days on location for, what we can see in these pictures, the “Simon Williams Film Festival”. In the comics, Simon Williams is Wonder Man, a superhero with a fear of death who ultimately gave up the hero game to instead use his superpowers to star as an actor in Hollywood. If you look close at the fake movie posters, Williams has become successful as an actor and has starred in a number of movies, including a Steve Jobs-esque biopic about Tony Stark. Because one of these movies is Tony Stark biopic, we can eliminate this scene as being some sort of flashback sequence to Peter Quill’s childhood on Earth (Peter was abducted in 1988 and never returned). If we assume Kurt Russell is playing Quill’s father, he too would have been long gone before this film festival would be taking place. So what is it? It’s possible it’s a post-credits scene that’s just having some fun with an old, forgotten Marvel character (see: Howard the Duck). It’s also possible it’s some sort of dream sequence of Quill imagining what it would be like to have the traditional upbringing with his dad — they go share ice cream, play baseball, attend a film festival, etc. The theater has been mocked up to appear as if it’s in St. Charles, Missouri, Quill’s home state. Or, it could be something else entirely. If you’re a local Atlantian and have some intel, let us know. UPDATE: Almost as quickly as we asked came this video of shooting taking place. Forget the notion of some dreamy father-son sequence. It’s clearly a shot of some type of space craft crash landing on Earth. Peter Quill returns home? ^ Yeah that's sort of old news, but it's also kind of amazing. Fillion is a perfect Wonder Man. I wonder if they'll actually make him a hero of it'll just be a cameo sort of thing with his alter ego. So cool.
I love Nathan Fillion. He always seemed like such a nice dude which is why all the drama on Castle seemed sort of out of left field. The rumors are him and the chick that starred with him on the show (I care too little about her to look up her name) didn't get a long at all and he wanted her off the show. They actually were ready to kill her off and the studio decided just to kill the show altogether. Fillion never seemed like the type of dude who would do that, and it seems like everyone who has ever worked with him jumps at any chance to work with him again. Regardless, Fillion is a criminally underused talent in the Hollywood landscape. I know Castle was probably a pretty sweet gig for him (successful network show where you are the title character), but I think that show may have prevented him from doing other stuff that would have been better.
If I recall correctly the drama wasn't between he and her, it was between her and the studio. She was demanding to be paid more money (equal to or at least very near Fillion himself) and the studio said no. Fillion apparently didn't go to bat for her, but he also didn't disagree but tried to stay out of the situation. I think her request for near-lead type of money was probably a bit aggressive, but the studio's response was also uncalled for and it lead to the show being cancelled so... whoops.
Well, if that's the case, then she's kind of an idiot. You don't get equal pay to the title character of the show...the guy who had a huge fan following before this show even started. I mean, if he's not on the show, it likely doesn't get off the ground. She was kind of a nobody before the show, and if I had to bet on it, she'll drift into relative obscurity, maybe popping up here and there. Nathan Fillion will land on his feet. He's already in Guardians of the Galaxy II.
I'll reserve judgement until I hear the exact numbers we're talking about, but in general I agree. Why ruin a good thing? I mean to be fair Castle was getting cancelled soon anyway because they were losing viewership, but why hasten the process?
swirling of rumors and leaked info lately. If you want more info google away. Spoiler 1. Doc Strange is meeting Thor and Loki, not sure if its in Doc Strange post credits scene or in ragnorok 2. GotG are in Infinity Wars 3. Spidey cast list has several future major players names in it, both villains, heroes, spider family etc.
Yeah saw that. I know there's some uproar about #3, but I'm open to it. I guess I just have a soft spot for the classic version (my wife is a redhead so I guess I have a type). I'm cool with #1. With the introduction of that character, he needs to be all over the place. He needs to be a person they all go to pretty much all the time. And with #2 I mean it's got to be right?
