    If you've never heard of Terrace Martin, he's a music prodigy out of Compton who has worked with Snoop, Kendrick Lamar, Lalah Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Busta Rhymes, and YG. When he was in high school, Jay Leno gave him a full scholarship to college because he was so impressed with him and his talents.

    This song is with K. Dot from an album 2 years ago.




    He just released a jazz album called Velvet Portraits which is fantastic, start to finish. I know this isn't for most of the LB crowd, but if you enjoy jazz, this guy is amazing.

    Lupe is the first artist that opened my eyes to the potential of hip hop.

    This might be the best lyrical song of all time. Bookended perfectly.

    DJ Quik later went on to clarify that he wasn't dissing Kanye with his comments, and was instead issuing a challenge to the Windy City wordsmith

    "This is a challenge. This ain't a diss. It's just a challenge. Make your best music. Because fans aren't stupid. They're just not," he said.

    I agree. I don't think 90% of mainstream rap is good at all. Kanye's is I guess better than most of the mainstream stuff, but still not great.

    There are however a number of really great young rappers coming up that could take over things.

    I know everyone likes to hate on him because he said some weird stuff when he was 15 (hard to blame him for being so weird when he grew up in an extremely rich/famous family of Scientologists, and who didn't say stupid stuff when they were teenagers?) but Jaden Smith is actually pretty dope.
