Definitely something worth watching. I like Harkless. I don't know where we'd fit him, but I like him.

IF Harkless was obtained, I'm sure Walton and co. will find a way to play him. Better than Anthony Brown.

Yeah he's a SF/PF really and we're kind of loaded at the spot, but he's got some solid talent. I'd rather have him on the roster than Anthony Brown for sure and he seems like the kind of kid who would carve out a role somehow, some way.

We have about 10 million to offer and the Blazers now have Turner, Crabbe, and Aminu in the way. I think both Portland and Harkless want to make a deal work, but if someone gets frustrated I wouldn't be mad at Mitch if he gave this kid a shot.

We wouldn't have to and I don't think Olshey wants anything to do with Nick. :D

We can just sign Moe to an offer sheet and let the Blazers match it or let it go.

I'd rather just save the cap room than spend it on a guy that we'd struggle to even find playing time for. Don't see much time at 3 behind Deng/Ingram. Don't see much time at 4 behind Randle/Nance.

Oh...thanks. Carry on then... As far as the option:

The bench will be solid with Moe, Larry and Zubie...

We have the money to spend and he'd be a good asset. There's teams out there interested, but he's right on the fence. I'd make an offer and force the Blazers to match. What else are we spending our money on? It'd still be a player worth having and someone worth flipping if/when the time comes.

What else are we spending our money on? That's my point. We don't have to spend money just for the sake of spending it. Let's save it for next year. I'm not saying we need to preserve cap room for some fantasy of getting a max player. But there will be other non-max impact players available who might fill a bigger need next off-season than Harkless would right now.

But I wouldn't be completely against signing him mainly for the reason you mentioned. He's an asset that could be used in a trade down the line. My only concern is that if we can't find him playing time, I don't know how much value he'd have.

..and can possibly contribute. Just for the heck of it:

    PG - Russell
    SG - Twiggy
    SF - Harkless
    PF - Nance
    C - Randle

Fast, long and lethal with some physicality thrown in. I loathe putting Clarkson on the pine but...

Harkless is better than Luol Deng?

No...but I don't know if Deng can play major minutes at the 3. Not much time for him at the 4. Hypotheticals if Harkless was on board. Have my doubts about it happening...really more of a speculative idea IF. Twig sez he is a shooting guard by nature so...

If your second thought is true, then your first isn't: I'm not signing him just to sign him. I'm signing him because he's a) a pretty good prospect and b) an asset we can either use ourselves or use as a trade piece in the future. He'll retain value on age and it would give us another youngish asset we can trade away without trading the ones we're desperate to keep or heck even replace one of the ones we like a lot.

If we sign anyone else I want one more 3 ball specialist. Moe doesn't fit that slot.

Harkless reminds me of an up&coming Wesley Matthews... I really do like him.

I'd love to move Lou will, young,Calderon,Brown,Sacre in order(not literally)to create the space for him.

    That is absolutely true.

Deng cannot play major minutes on the wing. He is a stretch 4 these days. Thats the only spot on the court where he can be productive and effective. He has already lost a step so chasing wing players is not really his strength.
