Raiders' line can't do much in pass protection, and Carr has misfired a few times. He's at 7-16, 48 yards and 2 INTs
They won in significant part because of Latavius Murray - who was out with a concussion, but that doesn't account for how absolutely F-ing awful they were - in all aspects of the game except punting.
I told my wife we probably would lose by 50 after we finally won a game. Damn I didn't know I was going to be right.
So, with the #1 pick...do we take the DL from USC or do we trade down? I'm seeing areas of need as: DL OL DB WR/TE RB In that order. What do you think?
For any team, I ask two questions: 1. Do we have our QB of the future? If yes- draft him an O-Line. If no- draft talent. Murray looks like the real thing to me. I'd tentatively pencil him in as the RB there. That means if the O-Line is ready and you've got your QB/RB it's time to focus on options the QB can throw to. I know, I know: defense wins games. BUT defense doesn't win as many games in today's NFL as offense does. Ask Payton and Luck. Take care of your offensive production and then worry about the defense.
@therealdeal... first question? Yes, Build O-line around him? see: Dallas Cowboys. Their offense is clicking well with an established O-line. Their defense was projected to be the worst to begin the season. Now they are not, because their offense can sustain drives. Raiders have two cornerstone O-Linemen already with C Wisnieski and G Jackson. I like LaTavius Murray. 1st round pick? D-Line. Leonard Williams of Southern Cal comes to mind. LB's are there with Moore and Mack. Corners? McGill looks solid even in limited stints. Hayden is talented IF he could stay healthy. 2nd order of bidniz...a top shelf wide-out. Team has some Wes Johnsons at the position. Crazy whispers of Harbaugh being shopped with Raiders and Jets as prominent suitors.
I like Carr. I think he's worth betting on too. I'd still take an O-lineman unless there's some guys available this summer in free agency. You do however need some serious help on the perimeter. I don't know that there's a WR I'm confident in on that team.
We have our QB fa sho fa sho. We could really use a top flight WR, but I think the trenches are where we need help.
The QB is set. I think the kid is the real deal. If we could get a running game I think that would solve a ton of the Raiders problems. The defense is gassed. Id make McFadden a damn tight end or push him off a bridge and tell him to swim for somewhere else. I'd love to see a #1 receiver that can stretch the field a bit.
