There are some people that care about character and team play...lol Players are going to want to be playing in LA after this year as is. It seems more insane to me to think that Westbrook is going to save our franchise. Electrifying and a great player no doubt but so far not showing that he can play team ball. Develop our guys this year and see what it looks like once it is done. Things are looking up no need to do a panic move and make it worse. Panic usually leads to bad decisions.

Jeezus Byron damn near did kill him with his stink didn't he? Boozer never got back in the league and now a guy that probably should have gotten 4-6M or more in this new bargaining age for his worth has to go to the stinking Clippers for vet minimum.

Well first: I'm not sure there's ever been evidence Westbrook is a low character person. He's been a terrific teammate in the locker room and hasn't had many (any?) big off-the-court issues. Second: I understand it being deemed panic to trade for him. I disagree with that a lot, but I understand that view. I don't understand it being panic to SIGN him as a Free Agent.

I'm with you. This one stings a bit. I liked Bass, he was a pro for us, but hey I guess it wasn't in the cards. I'm guessing the Lakers want no part in any veteran player that was here last season besides Lou since Lou still holds court value. Get that slate as clean as possible and move forward with these new high-paid veterans.

We're sitting at a mostly full roster right now with a still un-signed rookie and some cap space left over. I wonder what the play is here?

Maybe Luke and the FO feel that Black and Randle and Nance can handle the small ball 5 needs and we're OK at the 4 with Julius and Larry. The latter part of that seems to me more questionable than being able to cover our Small ball needs. Injuries and what not. I would definitely liked to have had Bass come back. Another thick, strong, big dude with some good mid range and finishing skills.

Well we obviously had the money to get him back, so yeah I'm assuming we didn't want to get him. I think he took a big value deal to a) stay in LA and b) because the Clippers are more competitive. If he came back here, it'd probably have been for the same money Tarik just got.

It must annoy Bass that he opted out of a 3 million dollar deal to play this huge market and got half of what he opted out of. Ouch.

I will amend my posts to just saying I don't like the way he treats teammates on the sidelines and how he is not a team player on the court because that is all I can see. You are right in pointing out there is no evidence of Westbrook being a low character, thank you for the correction. As far as signing Westbrook I think it will be clear after the season whether we should or not. If Russell develops, as I think he will, I still think it would hinder the development of the young guys. From my point of view Russell is clearly developing into the team leader. I don't see anyway Westbrook would come in with any mindset other than he is going to take over. That and also what I see as his inability to play team ball make him a bad signing. Again he is a spectacular dominate player that will fill the seats, make jersey sales soar, put us in the playoffs but not make us a championship contender. I am also not convinced he will help us attract free agents. He might very well do the opposite. Also want to point out that I'm stating my opinion based on what I see and in no way trying to claim any of this as fact. I would love for Westbrook to come in and lead us to multiple championships and I will enjoy crow stew every night if he does.

I'm fine with all that. I disagree almost categorically, but hey you and I are just going to go back and forth on this. We'll just agree to disagree.

I was about to laugh about JR Smith, but then I looked it up and he was a 12 and 3 guy, 40% from 3, so considering the contracts players got that averaged about that, he's not wrong. I was also gonna laugh because I remembered his awful start to the Finals, but then I looked that up too, and after game 2 he went for 20, 10, 10, and 14. So yeah, if freakin Bazemore, Tyler Johnson, Solomon Hill, Crabbe, Evan Turner, Fournier, and all these guys are getting what they are, he's not crazy.

Many of the guys I listed are one dimensional. Also, we lost our right to laugh at other teams or players asking prices when we landed Mozgov at 12:01 for 64 mil.

I don't think any of those guys are one dimensional, honestly.

I think he's worth closer to 10-12 million even in this market, but asking for 15 is probably the right way to go.
