I don't always trust test audiences. It's likely a complaint thrown out was "MOAR VADER!" when this isn't a Vader movie. But if they go back to fix stuff, great. If it's still not great, I'm not crushed, the ones they need to get right most for me are the saga films, not so much the anthology films. I mean, I don't even want a Han Solo movie, I'd rather have a Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan movie. And an old republic movie or tv show, explore some stuff we haven't seen before.

This really annoys me if true

    http://collider.com/star-wars-rogue-one-reshoots-detailed/

I've read that this is a "war movie" for months. They've been saying on Collider Jedi Council for months that this is a gritty, war movie, I believe the director himself is even the one they bit that from. How would Disney execs not know this far along that this is a different look at the universe? I don't want another same old same old SW movie, I was looking forward to this BECAUSE it's a war movie from the perspective of soldiers and not Jedi. That's the appeal, a band of Rebels going against the Empire to get the Death Star plans, it's not a a lighthearted romp. I really hope they don't F this one up now when it could have been something really cool that we haven't seen in the SW universe yet. We don't need these movies to play it safe, audience are going to flock to anything with Star Wars in the title and Vader in it.

All that said, I was bored to death by Gareth Edwards Godzilla, long, dreary, dull IMO. So, maybe they know what they're talking about.

Yeah with most other studios I'd be a little worried about the sound of that, but I'm guessing it was a pretty dreary movie. I'm all for a more serious Star Wars movie, but it should still have some Star Wars feel to it. I take this as the movie was all down and no up.

If Disney knows anything about movies it's how to play with your emotions. If there's no up moments, the down moments don't have the same weight to them.

    Im with realdeal,

Disney has a long storied history of great films, whether its classic story telling through animation, pixar's heart aches wrapped in good times, marvel's ever growing diverse collection of supers,or ep VII, they have proven they know how to tell a great story over the last 80+ years. If this was another studio I would be nervous.

I'm torn on this. I am with Weezy where I really wanted to see a gritty, war movie that happens to be in the Star Wars universe, but if it was too dark and morbid (ie Batman vs Superman) maybe they need to add a bit of pep. Remember Episode VII went through a pretty dramatic rewrite (some say it was an entirely new script) because Disney didn't like the direction Michael Ardnt was taking it.

If I had to guess, the reshoots will be used to work the newly cast Han Solo into it and to make the dialogue scenes a little more cheery. The war scenes are what they are. I don't think they are going to go in and add little Tony Stark-esque quips and one-liners while an AT-AT is bearing down on them. But maybe take the edge off some of the sit-down scenes. Forest Whitaker as a hardened war veteran sounded dreary from the start. The guy looks like he is going to cry at any given moment.

Like Kingsama said, if this was WB or (especially) Fox fiddling with at the 11th hour, I'd be terrified. But Disney has a good track record of knowing how to tell a story. Besides, this is all hearsay any way. All big movies have reshoots. Maybe this was leaked by the people making Assasin's Creed? ;)

I think the idea of adding Han Solo to this, if that's what they're doing, is stupid. A young Solo movie is one thing, but this leads like minutes if not days up to episode 4. So if in the future we watch Rogue One after episode 3, see Han Solo in this as however you say his name, then see Ford as Solo in the next movie that takes place like 2 days later, and he's aged and is a different guy, makes zero sense. We don't need Solo in this, we don't need the universe shrunk even more in that regard, let the solo Solo movie stand on its own.

I agree. I hate the idea of a Solo movie anyway. The only reason I will see it is its part of canon. I have zero interest in that film. And to be honest, I haven't talked to many people who want it. I wonder why Disney thinks this is a good idea? Everyone seems against this thing.

They will probably CGI the new actor up to look a lot like Harrison in Episode 4 looks, but I'm betting adding him is a big part of the reshoots as well.

This look..fantastic. The war atmosphere, the new worlds, the characters and practical effects/real sets. This to me at the moment is looking even more interesting and original than Episode 7. Any concerns I has about reshoots are pretty much gone, this looks like a blast, like the old school SW universe brought back to to life with modern tech.

No trailer, all we got was this same behind the scenes reel. Sucks, really wanted a new trailer already.

On the good news front, Celebration was cool. Rebels season 3 trailer was sweet, they found a way to use Grand Admiral Thrawn and brought Timothy Zahn back into the canon novel group. Also, while I don't think we need a Han Solo movie, I really like the guy they chose to play him and think they probably made the best possible choice.

The Rebels trailer was amazing. Although I really hope it's not like that one Rebels trailer last year where it essentially all came from like two episodes. I have a feeling that stuff with the holocrons will all be in the mid season finale. Thrawn I do believe will have a presence all season. So I think you know this being the huge fan you are, but just to be clear to anyone else reading this, the Thrawn Trilogy itself still isn't canon. Thrawn exists now in canon, but we know essentially nothing about him and the only things that will be true about him in canon are going to be what we see on the show. Still, it looks like the "legend" of Thrawn will be followed. There was a rumor going around that Ben Mendleson's character in Rogue One was going to be Thrawn which would have sucked since he would be human instead of Chiss.
