I only trade for Westbrook if we have other trades lined up for big name players. With Westbrook and whatever young pieces we have left, we are not competing in the West, we'll be seed 6-8 at best. I'd rather bet on the young core to develop into good to great players and peak as Golden State starts declining. Or if we do trade for Westbrook we go all in and trade all the young players to build a team that can win now and compete with GSW.

I just posted in NBA discussion a new report of Rivers possibly looking to be doing a deal with Ainge to move Griffin to the C Bags. ??

Again, the only way I trade for Westbrook is if it is a Sign and Trade, which he already stated he will not do.

So, there's no point in throwing away our talent on rookie scale contracts for a rental.

We are building a team from the ground up. Not flushing it. We probably don't get Westbrook via FA, but we probably don't keep him via trade - and we definitely lose the assets we trade.

It feels like ever since Durant went to GS, I've been reading the same circular arguments of whether or not we should trade some of the young core for Westbrook, spanning multiples pages in multiple threads.

Reddick expires after this year but I did forget Crawford and Rivers (the payroll I used did not have updated FA signings). Doc Rivers is a fool - tying up $35M on a backup pg at best. I'm very OK with him wasting the Clippers money and ensuring their irrelevance.

Not madness at all.. Top five player no doubt but not top five team player.. Big difference. I understand that most don't have the patience to rebuild but we have a great young core. Much better and put together quicker than most could have imagined. Let them develop is my preference. Westbrook is what he is a great player that is set in his ways. I'm not trying to convince you just stating what I believe is best for the long term development of the Lakers.

This has nothing to do with my patience level and everything to do with you not wanting a Top 5 player in the game. As long as you realize what you're saying, that you're turning away even signing him in the summer meaning we lose no players, picks, or anything besides cash, for the chance to see what these kids do in 3-5 years. As long as you understand what that entails and how long of a period we're talking about to potentially discover these kids weren't enough and meanwhile we're passing on Top 5 talent for no reason, then I'm cool. We're on the same page. We just completely and utterly disagree about this. Just polar opposites.

Yes, I'm pretty clear in what I'm saying. I want to surround our young guys with good high character players and see what they can do. I do agree that Westbrook is a fantastic player and I enjoy watching him. It is just my personal preference to watch good team play. I also know that my opinion is in the very tiny minority as in I'm probably the only one. Westbrook makes us an instant playoff team. I want the championship and not sure he is the one to lead us there.

Okay fair enough. I find that to be completely insane. I can understand not wanting to trade for him because it could cost us some progress in the rebuild. I get that. I don't for the life of me even understand the stance of not signing him as a free agent. That makes absolutely zero sense to me.

Well the good news is that neither one of our opinions matter to the front office and it is almost a certainty that they will go after Westbrook and in all likelihood will sign him. He will be huge for sales and instantly make us a favorite for the playoffs. So from that point of view it would be a good signing for the Laker organization. I don't make any money off that...lol so I'm just thinking long range and passing those obnoxious C Bags for all time Championships. Hopefully he brings us many championships and you can all point out my insanity for years to come.
