Mermuys has that nervous energy when he speaks with the amount of "you knows" in his comments. He did point out how the Sixer traps and on ball pressure took our crew out of their comfort zones. Mermuys is a departure from Madsen's chaotic stint from last season's Summer League. He is more organized of course having had experience from his time in Toronto.

How do you guys like... Simmons? I think he looks great, game looks so easy for him. The passing is better than i anticipated (he should get 17-20 assists this game if it wasn't for the bums he plays with). If he can develop a midrange game/jumper, dear lord, a beast.
I also think Nance did an excelent job guarding him :).

yeah, i'm not sure i've seen someone that big and fast who can handle and pass like that. i really want to see him run the point full-time.

his shot is pretty bad, though. like randle bad, or worse.

For as great of a passer Simmons is, he's just as bad shooting. It's bad when you can't take a wide open 10 foot jumpshot. He could have dominated the game last night if he even had a semi-broke jumper.

EL OH EL at McConnell screaming, drooling and puffing his chest out all up and down the court only to get the game winner buried right in his eye.

So we agree that he is a 6'10 Rondo without the defense.:giggle:

I think he's even better than Rondo. His vision is elite (Magic, Nash, Stockton). Some of those passes are just "Whoa!! How did he see that?"

He's the one summer league fodder that has stood out for me. Everyone else is trying to hard which leads to mistakes or just isn't that good. But I would give August a training camp invite.

Did anybody else feel like Simmons refused to shoot possibly as a way of not exploiting himself as a terribad shooter?

After watching all 4 of the PHI summer league games so far I actually think hes in a good place to do what he does best. He needs the ball in his hands because your right, the game does seem to come easy for him as long as teammates are constantly moving and cutting. But if he were to go to a team like the Lakers I think it would have been a lot tougher for everyone on the team. Simmons would obviously need the ball and for good reason, but so do JC and Russell to be effective as this stage of there careers because they haven't learned how to be great at moving off ball like Klay and Curry have.

I think Nance hit it on the end in his post game press conference when he was basically saying and not in a disrespectful manner but guarding Simmons isn't that tough to guard. As long as everyone else stays with there guy there doesn't need to be any help defense because Simmons at this stage is always looking to pass first. Eventually teams will figure this out and that's when Simmons is going to have to improve his other parts of his game fast. But he's definitely a terrific player who will certainly have some incredible highlights this year.

Here is a Post Game Interview Playlist that Serena put up on YouTube for the LakersNation channel. She said she will continue to put all the interviews in here as we play more games

    Enjoy!

Edit: I also forgot about this link and would actually recommend this one over Serena's because this one has more of the interviews I believe whereas Serena's aren't as long:
