Los Angeles Lakers: Searching for the Perfect Dump

Well either way for Wade to get what he wants SOMEBODY is going to have to take a dump and I hope it's us. Either we poach McRoberts/1st or Winslow from Miami or we poach Calderon/2nd or Calderon/Gibson/1st from Chicago.

Please let us be in on this. This is GM 101 right here.

 

It doesn't matter to me. Calderon + _____ means you better give me a 1st rounder.

 

But it was mostly about pooping.

 

I'd have loved it, but I think it was a bit unrealistic. Riley wasn't gonna just give away the 10th pick and an improving player from only one season ago. Clearly they didn't prioritize Wade enough for that.

 

Yeah that move was not going to happen which is why we were able to get the dump we did get.

 

I went looking for dumps after reading Pincus's tweet that the Lakers were leaving space open specifically for dump targets. I couldn't come up with much or many reasons why they'd need to be dumped. There's not many that make sense or fit easily within what we'd be trying to do. I looked at a lot of expiring contracts though and this is what I found:

I bolded the ones I thought were maybe actual potential dump candidates. Remember, the idea is not just to absorb salary, but to take back a pick or some asset along with that person. I'm not sure it's likely we could get a pick AND McLemore for instance.

 

^Sefolosha... Only one that registers for me and can contribute to the cause.

 

We need defensive wing IMO so Sefolosha stuck out of that list. I do not know where he's at mentally or physically but if he has it together he could be of use for more than spot minutes on the floor. If Walton wants a team with interchangeable parts that can cover at the perimeter, Sefolosha fits the bill.
