Send him to the bench. When you are 1 and 9 you don't have the luxury to keep doing the same thing. Shake it up. It's not working. There's nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I think people would be a fair amount more accepting of Boozer and Johnson off the bench. Boozer needs to get on PEDs, im telling you... if he gets suspended who gives a hoot lol.
Boozer is limited but played well doing those things he can do well. I hope he can maintain this level of focus.
You can tell how his game will go if he makes or misses that first high arching jump shot. If he makes it, he'll do alright. If he misses it... it'll be a long one.
Never a fan of Boozer's game...he showed up yesterday, though. Will he do that consistently? Probably not...the only thing consistent about Boozer at this stage in his career is his atrocious defense.
Yall nailed it. One or two solid nights doesnt make up for his whole resume this season. He needs to consistently shows it. It starts, AGAIN, tonight against Terrence Jones who killed us last time continuing the Laker tradition of letting people have career nights. I BELIEVE IN YOU BOOZ, if we win tonight, ill go around the corner maybe and have a drink at the Hyatt toasting to a good W.
He rebounded great for us all game. As for the points and offensive performance, it looks like this is going to be a trend all year = he plays great in the 1st half and then not so great in the 2nd half.
I was curious to see if Carlos Boozer having a "good" game against ATL was actually a solid game all around. What I found out was that his "good" game was actually a net negative overall. Sure his offense was flowing, shooting 10/14, but his effort defensively negated that AND MORE. I watched the game again and watched Boozer every play on defense. I only kept track of times the offensive man scored directly on him, where Boozer was the primary defender..... 1st Quarter - 11 points given up 2nd Quarter - 13 points given up 3rd Quarter - 5 points given up 4th Quarter - 3 points given up This is just counting primary defending issues with him. This doesn't take into account his help defense, the times he jogs back on defense or the times he forgets he's guarding a 3 point shooter and leaves them wide open. His play directly resulted in 32 points for the other team. His "good" game actually netted the other team more points by 12. I don't have the time to go back and look at every game like this, but I would bet it's the same for every game and the big reason why Thibs benched him all the time. We have a coach that preaches defense or get benched, it's time for Byron to quit talking and start acting.
Carlos has proven to me that he's still capable of scoring against average defense. That's all he's shown. He hasn't shown great rebounding. He hasn't shown any defense at all. Send him to the bench or at least play him mostly against bench level talent. When he's in the game we rely on him a lot offensively even with Lin and Kobe on the floor. With Lin and Kobe out there we should see a lot of Hill and Davis. Those guys can pick and roll (or with Hill pick and pop) AND they're effective at cleaning up all the clunkers that Kobe is putting up right now. Boozer only does one thing. Let him do it without being a detriment elsewhere.
Chicago definitely did a great job of hiding his weaknesses.. With that coach/roster & that defensive system he looked like he wouldn't be a huge downgrade from Pau.. Without a great defensive system & defensive players to cover for him he looks like trash.
Boozer's defense has been trash and the fact that Byron continues to preach defense while starting Boozer is an absolute joke.
Bill Oram @billoram · 28m 28 minutes ago Carlos Boozer available against Grizzlies barring any setbacks He'll probably start, too. 14 games in; over/under on how many more games it will take for Byron bring Carlos off the bench?
It's sad when seniority and name dictates playing time and starting. It's a delicate situation where you don't want to lose the former All-Star mentally, but he doesn't deserve the start anymore. Boozer can score still, but the defense is awful, and he seems to small to have any impact even at PF anymore.
