The backlash for Durant will be incomprehensible. He instantly became the sole villain of the NBA and is seen as a ring chasing coward.

We don't have anyone else to trade except everyone.

Too risky to trade for Westbrook. He could very well leave next season and we're not even contenders this year if we trade the farm for him.

D-Lo can play point or off guard. Westbrook can play PG, but is better as the off guard. D-Lo and Westbrook backcourt could be the nastiest backcourt in the NBA.

Maybe the Lakers are getting Westbrook because Durant talked to Westbrook and Westbrook said he is leaving anyways. Who knows. I think Westrbook will be the first legit shot at a top 5 player next year. Especially if the Lakers win 35-40 games.

wow. well that puts a stamp on the idea that you have to be ready to compete for a championship to pull the top talent in FA. We need to make some serious progress this year to get Westbrooke next year. Get it done Luuuuke.

D'Angelo, Randle, and Lou Williams. Throw in some future picks maybe (we cant trade them for a few years).

It's all moot because OKC won't move him until the deadline probably.

Yeah at this point OKC would want a premium for Westbrook. I'm not willing to give up that much. Closer to deadline when OKC is lower in the brackets and he gives indication he won't stay, price might come down because everyone will know they don't want to lose another superstar for nothing.

Can anyone help me? How do I rationalize not hating Durant for this after I hated Lbj for going to Miami?
Seems tricky but I am sure there must be a way...

I wouldn't make the trade. He's going to walk.

If he did it, I had to just to compete.

My lawyerly instincts. Not bad. No-brainer to me. Be Iverson, McGrady, Barkley, or Malone - great scorers with no titles. Or Dirk or West, with just one. Or MJ, Magic, Bird, Kobe, Duncan, and Bron - with 3 or more? Need a Dynasty to do that. Now GS has one. Wow.

Nah, you wait until he's a free agent. You can either sign him outright or do a sign and trade. Either one allows you to maintain more assets, and you don't run the risk of bolting after we gut ourselves.

Unless the Lakers make a significant, Portland-esque improvement this season they have absolutely no chance at Westbrook. Same as this summer. I don't care where he's from or who he is a fan of. Nobody is going to a loser and right now we stink of loser.

No one will trade for Westbrook if they do not have a guarantee he resigns. I dont think a team will gut their team to trade for a guy who wont extend. Lakers have a legit shot now at getting Westbrook. Lakers need to surprise next year and win a lot of games. Durant leaving was huge for the Lakers.

I'm the ONLY one in favor of trading for him?? :D

Oh well. I'll set up camp by myself. Of course depending on what we give up. I wouldn't give up both Ingram and Russell for example.

It would be tough for me to trade Russell or I gram knowing Westbrook is a free agent next year and we could potentially have all of them. I'd rather take that gamble than trade for him, we still not make the playoffs, he bolts next offseason and now we truly have nothing.
