I would take Seth Curry and I'm sure Luke could convince him to come here if we wanted him.

    Agree

Think it involves package of swaggy for picks and signing a player?

That's a really crappy assessment of both Moz and Deng's talents left in the tank. Sorry. You can't just sit there and say there is NO hope until everyone in the FO is gone. What does that even mean? So what was your plan knowing that you still love the Lakers .....that was more achievable and we wind up better .......... than with 2 guys right above our 2 rookies that still have game and EVERYONE loves, to have both rooks learn from? I don't see with a 17 win team how we could have done better.

Swaggy is definitely gone at some point. I wouldn't mind getting something back for him.

With Seth, we can just sign him outright now.

Hearing that Durant decision (the decision 2) is not about $$.

Watching to see what GS trade rumors start popping as that would be the tip off before tomorrow. Same for Boston.

I do not see the correlation between what I said and the conclusion you drew?

I'm advocating for the assistant GM from OKC who Durant is high on. OKC Has done a great job of juggling talent beneath an owner that refuses to put a ton of money out. They've been great at drafting and acquiring talent. I think if given a stronger budget he could be a great GM here. I know that sounds like the Dodgers but the Dodgers said from the start they were going to shed salary and now they're screwed. The Lakers will always pay for a winner.

I wonder if that deleted tweet last night was him about to sign an offer sheet with us but then his agent calls him up and says, "Change of plans, Brooklyn is out of their mind!"

That's cool. At the very least, we will be better next season.

Glad you are back online. Always enjoy the discussion. I hear you and the frustration on how we missed on Durant. It's ok though - I think in the long run the 'misses' are good for lakers. Sure - the media pitch was the narrative and we start sounding like the Cubs but - in truth - we never had a chance at melo or Aldridge and Durant because everyone knows the lakers sucked then and we're going to suck for a while. The reasons were not due to front office and I don't want to steer the thread back to cp3 deal and d12 and Nash injury or the Karl Malone / Gary Payton experiment. Let's just ride it out and not blame mitch - look when there is turmoil with ownership it never helps management and/or installs condlfiende in outsiders. Period. Look at frank mccort dodgers vs Guggenheim

Jeannie and kids need to chil out and stop using John black and others to posture and vent old battles - not good for franchise and mitch and this forum

I think he was in LA partying with every expensive taste he could find and heard the news and was told by his agent - chill out papers aren't signed yet.

Even if we trade Lou and get Crabbe, how do you think we get Crabbe enough minutes on the court to justify that kind of deal it would take to not have POR match?

I don't have a great answer, just wondering what other people think.

Edit: Nevermind, looks like he signed an offer sheet with Brooklyn. Just got caught up to this page.

I think that's exactly what happened. Brooklyn came in late with a way bigger offer than what we probably had.

Crabbe reminds me of Powe in a lot of ways. Not just cal connection but the fact that his talent is largely overlooked and his ability to be a piece of a winner guess he would rather make $$ and play with the losers

I'm not taking anything away from what Mitch has done for us over the years. I think he's been certainly above average in most cases, some cases bad, and some cases great. He hasn't been a perfect GM but orchestrating a Champion is not easy and he's done it more than once. He's an excellent trader and he's put Jesse Buss and Ryan West in positions of power which has helped our scouting department immensely as they're the best thing about what we've got going.

The reality is though you cannot continue to stink it up. They (and really Jim specifically) gave an asinine deadline and they've done nothing to come close to reaching those goals. I like Mitch a lot, but does he really strike you as a strong FA pitch man? We've now got our young kids together and if we can find a GM that's also a good trader who is more modern and can speak more closely to what the newer players want, shouldn't we want that? I'm in favor of Mitch taking an adviser position as I think he has a valuable voice in the organization, but if we can modernize our approach on the floor with Luke then we can do the same in all facets of our team.
