I disagree. Have you not seen how respected Kobe is around the league? Players absolute LOVE him. He is still so inspiring to them. Remember how many players were in awe after his epic finale? Yeah so I don't buy the notion that Kobe couldn't be able to pitch as long as we have something to pitch. Which we very well could in a year.

Send a PM to Walton and Shaw. Since Mozgov is the center available they most wanted.

I'm sorry LT. I like Mitch a lot, but it's just time for new blood. He and Jim were given the time and opportunity they needed. It's time for him to step out of the GM role and go into his adviser position like his mentor before him. We need a modern look from every facet of our franchise. Regardless of whether or not it's true, the narrative has been created from Jeanie that her brother and Mitch are incapable of modernizing this team. I think there's some truth to it and I think there's some exaggeration as well. Bring some new blood in here (namely the young GM from OKC) and let's start fresh. Ideally Jeanie Buss would be gone too, but I think that's less realistic and really a lot more difficult to accomplish.

Step one: Jim out as bball president.
Step two: outside hire to take his place.
Step three: Mitch "promoted" to advisory role.
Step four: Assistant GM from OKC hired as GM.
Step five: Ryan West promoted to Assistant GM.
Step six: Kobe and Magic given honorary ownership stock so they can be part of our FA pitches.
    Step seven: profit.

I don't know who he is; I wonder what we do with our remaining cap space.

Wow, if KD does that it's over. For like the next five seasons. Great thing? It helps us. Gives us a shot at Westbrook.

I just feel no confidence at all with that, as opposed to Ryan ascending from within to the position. I agree maybe that other dude could be a choice, but then Ryan who grew up with the Lakers and learned from Jerry West his pops and Mitch all these years is most likely gone at some point soon to some other team. Sayonara to the West legacy with the Lakers. Let Mitch stay until Ryan is ready. Luke is the pitch man now. Hell they just put him on the phone no meetings needed with Mozgov and Deng. Think about it.

BTW, in unicorn think you expect Jeanie love-dogs-and-babies-in-Lakers-gear focussed Buss to pick this same Dude you and a couple of others are focussed on now?? Promote from within from the family / West legacy (Jerry will always be there to advise Ryan in tough decisions). Blood is thicker than water. LUUUUKE is the recruiter pitch man now.

This is a forum. For discussion. Nothing we say matters or has an affect on the franchise. Everything we talk about is based on actions by someone else outside of our control. Walton and Shaw are not members of this forum.

I like Luke and Shaw. I generally trust them and have come around considerably towards Mozgov. But to act like a rookie coach and a coach who had one terrible season are infallible experts at building a team and navigating free agency who shouldn't even be questioned is absurd.

Phil Jackson wanted Sean May over Bynum. Good coaches/basketball minds can be wrong/biased about evaluating basketball talent or understanding their value.
