Of course, 2 years with a team option would've been better.....The contract we gave him is probably what it took to keep him from going somewhere else.

And yes, I did watch Deng this year and he was solid. His D has slipped a bit, but he's a still a great cutter, good shooter from the corners/wings and also great in transition.

@Helljumper Murmuys has insight on Biyomo if that makes you feel better. Also Mozgov is a great PnR player....Biyombo not as much so I believe.

Doesn't make sense for him to agree to a deal, as he can't sign it until the period officially starts. Then the clock for GSW to match starts. Teams want to give Warriors the least time possible to try and figure out stuff to keep him.

Biyombo is pretty good in the PnR. 75th percentile or so.

I'm not really concerned with Deng's age or number of years. He helps us right now, he's a starter to let Ingram grow. I'm sure the hope is that as he declines Ingram will rise and take over. Maybe the 4th year isn't guaranteed, and if it is, expiring contract. Deng is a very good player, this is better than any signing I expected us to make after the Mozgov deal. He's aging for sure, but we've seen many players remain productive until 35, which I believe is what Pau is right now.

Well the last two years he's played more than 70 games as I recall and his numbers have been pretty consistent. His game isn't really predicated on athleticism so even in decline he can be effective. Given the market place for effective wings I think his contract is fine. Bazemore, Turner, etc. all got deals in the same vein. And in two years barring catastrophic injury I believe Deng will still be better than Afflalo. I also believe Deng will still be helpful for the young guys too.

Good. I wanted him earlier, but after getting Deng, giving him $20 million of our remaining cap space would've been a bad move.

Yeah, it was expected, though. The Texas teams (Dallas, Houston) haven't really done all that well in Free Agency, IMO.

Do you guys think we are still trying to get another $15 mil+ player or rather just holding out a bit to try and get a couple of players for a lesser price.

Clips got a meeting with Durant and they only have 17 million in cap space. Hawks don't have enough room for Horford right now, he's still considering them. You have to be able to get people in the room to snag them and we can't even get a meeting with those guys. We have to get wins, a lot of them, for those guys to consider a jump. We need to get this franchise up a few notches before that happens and IMO Id spend the cap to do that now.

With Lee at 15 million added instead of Lou. We would have ~24 million in cap space, a likely bump in the cap (projections always seem to be on the low side) and minor dumps Black/Brown to increase that cap space by ~ 3 million. We would probably be looking at ~30 million in cap space. I'm not worried about it because I don't see us winning enough games (46-50 likely needed) to turn heads. I'm taking the talent now.

Please don't start without really thinking it through.

Wait. I heard from a friend's sister that date's an IT guy for a big company and he's a Lakers fan and hangs out on LB and he read that trodgers "hates" Affallo. :Shaqwink: And his family. I believe trodgers. And everything else I've read that makes me excited to have Deng rather than Affallo, who reportedly has Really declined on defense and is more of a 2. So Deng is 6'9" still a really good 2 way player and a Dukie no less to swap Coach K stories with and MENTOR Brandon Ingram. Do not understand any problem with us landing Deng after the first 2 days of The sky is falling we're a joke and no respected FAs will come?

I'd like to see Mitch go for the kill and take Wade away from Riley too and bring him here for a couple of years. We got 30+M right? I would be all over that. I've ALWAYS loved D. Wade. Back in multiple rounds of the playoffs would be my unicorn prediction.

Better to hold. We've improved at 2 positions of need. No need to lock in another 4 years of money when we don't know what the future looks like. Plus we don't want more veterans taking minutes from the young guys. Their development is key to us getting back to success. No point in spending big now when we've addressed the team's biggest needs. Get some bench players and sit on the rest of our cap space.

Frye looking more valuable then ever lol....is there much separation between the 2? Add to the fact anderson since suffering that neck injury hasnt been as good of a shooter and id argue frye might be a lil bit better defender, both are below avg

Interesting. Even though I don't like the contract props to Mitch/Jim for being aggressive and not losing Deng. If Bazemore turned that deal down he's a fool. Also glad Lakers were eyeing guys like Bazemore and didn't just throw the bank at Deng without thinking. Deal's looking better though still not great.
