We need to save the rest so we have at least one max contract next offseason. If the kids show a lot of promise and the vets fill their roles, next offseason could finally be the year we actually get the elite free agents interested.

Norris Cole played pretty well for the Pelicans last season. He could be a value guy.

These numbers might be off, but I think Pincus said we could clear up to 41.5 (after the Mosgov deal), so with Deng at 18per we have around 23.5M left. Cap is projected to go up from 94 to 107. So as we stand, next year we would have 36M, which we probably want 27M for a max guy? So 9M to spend to keep a max spot open next year.

My thing with Lee is possibly getting rid of Lou for Lee. Thats a whole nother discussion though.
Wonder how much Vasquez or Jack will cost, both were injured last season.

Backup PGs are getting between 27-30 million over 3 or 4 years.

Those people are some of the least basketball knowledgable people I've ever seen. Same idiots who don't think Kobe is an all time great. Same people who think our young core is just average. Same people who probably think they could've coached the Warriors to 73 games. I hate that place.

Ran some numbers. This is assuming that none of the young guys improves (insanely unlikely):

    LA's Starters'
    Offensive Box Score Plus/Minus
    Defensive Box Score Plus/Minus
    Value Over Replacement
    By Position, 2015-16

    PG -0.2, -1.7, 0.1
    SG 0.6, -2.0, 0.4
    SF 0.8, -3.3, -0.2
    PF -3.7, 0.0, -0.9
    C -3.1, 1.9, 0.3
    Cumulative OBPM: -5.6
    Cumulative DBPM: -5.1
    Cumulative VORP: -0.4

    Changes:
    Deng at SF (projected numbers):
    1.0, 0.1, 1.8
Change: +0.2 on offense, +3.4 on defense, and +2.0 VORP.

    Mozgov at C (projected numbers):
    -1.8, 1.0, 0.5
Change: +1.3 on offense, -0.9 on defense, +.2 VORP

Total projected changes: +1.5 on offense, +2.5 on defense, and +2.2 VORP.

    2016-17 Team Cumulative:
    OBPM: -4.1
    DBPM: -3.6
    VORP: +1.8

Phoenix (23 wins) had starter values of: -2.2, -4.6, and +1.9.
    Minnesota (29 wins) had: +4.8, -1.2, +8.

So we might not be out of the cellar yet - but that's on the assumption that no one else improves.

I think it is funny how much hate the Lakers get on not signing big name free agents.

I started digging through this years signings on SB Nation.

    http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2016/6/...cker-2016-rumors?yptr=yahoo&ref=yfp#undefined

11 of 28 signings listed stayed in the same place, and only 1 of the top 10 (Dwight) moved. So is the rest of the league truly have huge success in free agency. Not with the big names we have all been dreaming about.

Type of players staying with team

    A. Drummond
    M. Conley
    D. Derozan
    H. Whiteside
    N. Batum

    Type of players changing teams
    D. Howard
    C. Parsons
    J. Noah
    E. Turner
    L. Deng
    J. Lin
    M. Delladova
    J. Johnson
    A. Jefferson
    J. Dudley
    T. Mosgov

What the hell is Miami doing? Okay they max out Whiteside, they low and I mean low ball Wade. 10 million seriously? For a guy who's still a top three two guard that's so disrespectful imo. Now they've lost two quality starters in Deng and Johnson.

Would've definitely preferred Bazemore on this same deal, but I can't complain. We needed a wing, we got one. Apparently, he spent a good chunk of time at the 4 last year, but I view that as a positive. He can start at 3 while also giving us versatility in smaller line-ups as a stretch 4. He'll be able to teach Ingram some tricks at playing the 3, while also leaving plenty of playing time for Ingram at the 3 spot. Good move.

Think we should get wade too on a 1+1 and give pau the rest by either waiving young or trading him somehow

I doubt we could do that. Wade will cost us 20 million and Pau at least 15.
