    No. 4/60. $15 million a year. $16 of necessary.

D'Angelo having a stretch of 20, 5, and 5 isn't showing a potential star on the rise? Sorry I just don't agree with that statement. D'Lo was messed with all season and still had that terrific stretch in March. He was hitting clutch shots, consistently scoring about 20 points a game, even a couple of 30 point games, and even a near 40 point game. There was at least three different games he took over down the stretch and the only reason there wasn't more was because of Kobe's retirement tour and Byron's stupidity.

As for the other guys I agree they didn't necessarily show they'll be stars, but all three of them definitely had really solid years and Randle in particular got better, more efficient, held the ball less, and played at a more controlled pace as the months went on.

Believe me, I get the numbers (what I do for a living). I just hate it. It's sad for us.

Your top half is at 4/68 then? I'm okay with that. I'd just like to bring in a nice 3&D guy.

If Baze got 4/72, Lee could command 75+.

He'll get more than that. Something around the Bazemore deal likely.

Just making sure. The numbers are pretty astounding. I don't think it's that sad for us because pretty much the entire league is on board with this new reality. We've got to overpay a little more than the better teams that's for sure. We're no different than the small market teams that have to overpay to get somebody to go there. That's us now thanks to the NBA/our FO combination.

I would throw 4/80 at Lee with how much space we have left.

Lee is more of a 2/3. Good shooter, sound defensively, etc.

Not going to get my hopes up though. At some point, Lakers just have to grab the best available talent.

    DAYUM. :D

I'm not necessarily against it, but that might honestly be what it takes to get him here. The question then becomes why not just max offer Barnes? We're in the same ballpark and I think Barnes offers a lot of the same strengths while also being bigger, more athletic, and more versatile.

That's my point. If we're going to suck, do so with young talent that we can trade or build around. Don't ever have the conservation about "we COULD do this, but Mosgov's contract"...

    It's a risk.

I want to be wrong, but having watched nearly every game I have my opinion. It will please me to no end to see Russell have those stretches on a consistent basis next year, I like the kid, but will it take 5yrs for him to get to that place? If so it's gonna be a tough ride. Like I said in my original post, I'm hoping this slap in the face by their peers will bring the junk yard dog out in them.

I see what you're saying, but the young talent is already here. We've got the young talent and we're building around it right now. The Lakers view our young players as the next Curry, Klay, Draymond, etc. Now we're getting our Iggy and our Bogut and all that jazz. We're not focused anymore on bringing in big names. They're about two years too late, but hey we've got the young players now. I don't think Mozgov's contract is that big of a risk either especially if that 4th year is an option like we've heard rumored. It becomes an expiring in two years right when the young guys should be showing us whether or not they're worth building around.

I just, I just never thought in my wildest dreams our best addition during free agency for Timofey Mozgov and it appears that could be the case. I like Mozgov, but wow that's just not what I anticipated.

But you have to agree, that's HUGE expectations.

For Mosgov to excel and be worth it, we have to do the same. He only makes us better if the young talent grows. We have amazing potential, but people bust. It's a true possibility. I'd rather not have that happen with bad contracts if the best case is a 7 seed.
