Mitch at least knows how to pull off some good trades. He's no FA pitch man, but he's a good trader. I'd be okay with Mitch taking the West advisory role, but it's probably time for new blood.

he didn't build anything, he was forced into the situation and alot of that has to do with his FA approach and his prior selling off of our 1st rd picks as well.

I don't think Turner is a worse player than Mozgov. He brings a different skillset and role to a team, and I think he's better at his role of a back-up wing than Mozgov has shown he is at his role of being a starting center.

That's the same point I'm making from the opposite perspective. I don't think it's overpaying. It's the market price, so it is what it is. A LOT of people, not just here but all over the stupid media outlets, are crushing us for overpaying Mozgov. Well where's the outrage and crushing for Turner or Fournier or the eventual Bazemore deal? Where's the outrage for a 40 million dollar deal to Dirtyvedova? I mean it doesn't make sense to me. We're the only ones getting crushed out there.

Absolutely. I wouldn't balk at playing people market value. However, if I did do something like that, this is my thinking. Stretch Nick, and shed Lou's contract without taking anything back. Lou is making peanuts ($7million). That's $12 million bucks off your books. Then you make the move for Bazemore and fill out the roster with the remaining cap space.

I agree. And i can't understand why everybody is mad. I mean we are a team full of youngsters and in the rebuild so why would a top free agent sign here; These guys want money ( a lot of teams have money to throw with the new cba) and they want a chance to win.

Also i love the kids we have here and i want them to guide us in the post-Kobe era.

Evans is likely to start actually in Portland. They're both borderline starter material, but I think Mozgov is a better player when he's healthy.

Honestly even though I've defended Jim some type of change needs to be made. We can't even get second tier free agents who aren't even max players even consider us. This shouldn't be happening.

I feel like if the Lakers make enough progress this season and start to get back to respectability and get back in the playoffs within a few years all these issues in the front office will be resolved.

Winning cures everything. A big reason why Jim and Jeanie can't get along imo is probably just the frustration from losing. From seeing the greatest franchise in the NBA fall from grace. We are at the very bottom.

If we could climb our way up I think things will get better in the front office because even if you hate each other if you're winning who cares? That's the number one goal and they wouldn't be at each other's throats.

The problem is I don't see us winning before Jim's timeline is up so he's probably gone. The Lakers will have to bring someone else in to at least oversee things. I don't see that person being Phil. As much as she may want Phil it doesn't seem like anyone else does. I don't think she'll just override everyone and bring him in if she's the only one who wants that.

I think eventually the Buss family will get together and all have to mutually agree to someone else they can bring in. Hopefully it's a fresh face, who understands the game, and how to build a team.

I think Luke is gonna do great things here. I think he's gonna change the culture. Get this team playing the right way. Lean on some of the veterans we eventually bring in. He's gonna get the young guys to buy into whatever system he chooses to run.

I'm still excited for next season. Getting guys like Parsons even though I wanted him may end up being a blessing in a disguise. He doesn't really strike me as one of those veteran leader type guys. Having two guys coming off knee injuries and committing probably a combined 40 million of near it I mean I just don't like the sound of it.

Now what we can do is add some complimentary pieces that can help the young kids grow and blossom, but also guys who can play, contribute, so not everything is on their shoulders. We probably don't win more than 30 games, but that's still a thirteen game improvement under a rookie head coach such a young team. I'd take that.

The next offseason we still have that money to spend. We should at the very least get a second tier guy who could maybe push in or close to the playoffs. Then all of a sudden in two years we go from a 17 win team to a near playoff team. That's tremendous progress.

Look at a team like Golden State. Their front office was a mess. Mark Jackson came in and really changed the culture. He and management couldn't get along so he had to go. Same thing might happen with Buss so you bring someone else in that everyone agrees is right for this franchise.

Once you start winning to some degree, you get a fresh face in the front office, all of a sudden all this talk about the Lakers being dead and no longer able to get free agents well we're able to. This is gonna be a long, painful process, but I'm ready for it.

There's so much I'm looking forward to next season. A defensive scheme where we don't over help, where we force things toward our anchor in Movgov, we switch properly, we trap, we extend our defense, we have better communication, and all five guys get back in transition.

I'm looking forward to Ingram in motion action showing off his deadly stroke. Clarkson and Russell playing down hill more in screen and rolls and making plays for their teammates once they draw the defense. Looking forward to Randle's jump shot improving as well as playing under more control and seeing him show off his playmaking. Looking forward to seeing all these athletes in transition. Looking forward to seeing D'Angelo and Clarkson take turns handling and one coming off of pin downs and getting wide open shots.

We are gonna be so fun to watch because we'll be playing as a team once again. No overdribbling, poor shot selection, lazy defense, at least not as much. Playing a beautiful brand of basketball we saw when the Warriors came to town. Just giving us all a reason to be proud Laker fans once again.

I haven't seen any report confirming that the fourth year is a team option...

I would not give Bazemore 20-22 mil, the very thought makes me laugh. One because he's a tweener, not sure if he's a SG of SF, and two because he won't even be starting for us in a year. He's not better than JC, so you'd be paying that much for a backup SG, and if he's a SF, Ingram most likely takes his starting spot by next season if not the middle of this season. 20-22 mil for a bench SG/SF that's an 11/5 player? Hell no. I'd rather go after Harkless and I don't even want him.

Our remaining cap space puts us in position to at least try to land one of these restricted FA's of teams that are capped out (Portland's RFA's come to mind). Also, I'll be watching the Horford rumblings pretty closely. He's talking to a lot of contenders that would need to dump guys to squeeze him in, so that could be a chance to scoop up a Kanter or someone like that via trade.

By no means are we done at this point.

It appears we won't have 100% confirmation until the contract is actually inked after the moratorium period.
