I just don't see the argument at all in the money being an issue that's all.

    DeRozan- 5/150
    Drummond- 5/130
    Batum- 5/120
    Parsons- 4/94
    Fournier- 4/85
    Turner- 4/70

    Then there's the:
    Clarkson- 4/50
    Dirtyvedova- 4/38.4
    Lin- 3/36
    Teletovic- 3/30
    Jefferson- 3/30
    Augustin- 4/28
    Bayless- 3/27

The money is just not an issue for us in this case. I know the initial #s sound bad, but this market is being set at insanely high prices. We can't look at the dollar amount and be discouraged. It's just the reality of the summer. If it wasn't him, it was someone else for likely even more money. Biyombo for 4/80 million or something like that. Is that better? Maybe. I don't know, but the numbers are still outrageous.

I mean I know he's no Tristan Thompson or Steven Adams, but he's not being paid like them either (figuratively speaking of course, I know the literal translation doesn't make sense).

...I'm looking forward to seeing Mozgov setting a pick on Chris Paul. I hope the cat plays well just so to prove the naysayers wrong a bit as well as for the sake of the squad...and that we did get some value. One of the more polarizing acquisitions I have seen in a long time.

I don't know man, like I said before, if we were going to punt, then punt. Mozgov is a punt, but rather than it being on a reasonable short deal that still allows us to have 2 max slots for NEXT season, his contract is huge and prevents that. I'd rather have spread money around on mediocrity than pour it into the lap of one 30 year old, injury prone, unsuccessful knee surgery having, borderline starting lumbering center in an increasingly small ball NBA. This is one of the worst deals we've ever handed out, it makes Luke for the MLE look smart. Or do you want me to tell you how I really feel? :p

I'm sorry man I think you're just wrong on this one. We didn't pour money into it and this isn't a one-year stopgap for us. This is who the Lakers wanted to be their Bogut whether we like it or not. This isn't a Hibbert rehash and it's not a Jordan Hill 2/20 million (which today would be 14.1 million I believe). This is the Lakers finding a guy they like and getting him.

And to hell with two max contracts next summer, who the hell cares? I mean honestly who are the Lakers going to get next summer anyway? You really think they're getting two max guys? We've been down that road for three years now and this summer it culminated in no meetings. To hell with that road. We picked a guy and got him for market value. You're really getting caught up in the dollar amount when that's an exercise in futility.

When Dellavedova is making 38.5 million dollars, Mozgov making 64 (assuming it's all guaranteed) is not a bad contract. It really is that simple. I know the numbers are staggering, but if you think about it as a percentage of the cap it makes 1000% more sense. Well... Dellavedova is still way overpaid (he'd be making 7 million under the previous cap), but you get my point.

Have not heard any Bazemore talk, another defender that would help...

It can be both. Obviously they would have preferred Horford or Whiteside, but if they're unavailable that doesn't mean they don't like Mozgov. Shaw liked him and Luke coached against him. They saw something they liked.

I hate this. I'm defending this move vehemently but I'm not even a huge fan of it. I just don't think it deserves all the outright negativity we're seeing. It's a B- move. Decent, but nothing special. I don't understand why we can't all agree on that.

Are you freaking serious? LOL!! Evan Turner got paid, too. I knew people would freak at these numbers. I just knew it.

When I read about how Mozgov's contract blew that option out of the water I was not happy about it but afterwards I had the same sentiments as you did. Our young core could have served notice that they will be trouble but we will need the $$$ to keep them together and the same free agents [high, middling, low] would probably stay where they are at or go somewhere else to be established and not play second fiddle to our players.

Dude, we know what Mosgov is, right. We're not stupid. We're avid fans of the NBA, and to be quite frank, you've been posting as much and criticizing the Lakers over the last two years more than anyone! I see people pop in, criticize our free agent efforts this summer, then disappear for the season.
