Anyone know if we will have two max slots next year when the cap goes up?

Nope, saw a headline on twitter, Moz contract effectively killed that option.

Damn. Oh well. I doubt Durant is coming anyway.

Could be worse. We could be Mark Cuban right now. All his plans are falling apart it seems....

I think it would've been better had JC signed an offer sheet instead of us offering him a contract like this. His contract would've been only 5-6 mill a year for the next 2 years with us matching instead of this 11 and 12 mill opt that we just gave him ourselves.

This Mozgov signing is indefensible in all fronts. Mitch/Jim overpaid for an attainable target. If this was say 10M it's palatable.

He was going to get his max anyway. We're eliminating the whole offer sheet process and focusing on what we have up front.

I understand that...I dont care what he got paid, i'm just saying had he signed an offer sheet and we matched years 1 and 2 would have been half the hit on the cap vs. what he's signed up at hte moment

I'd gladly watch Cuban pull a Clippers, lock Mozgov in a room until he changed his mind and signed with Dallas instead.

As I said mentioned yesterday, if we survived Byron for two years, a bunch of reclamation projects, and the embarrassment of having our two worse seasons ever as a franchise, and a coach who was a dumba** , we'll survive this Mosgov move; it's not all that bad.

It's not even about surviving this Mosgov move either; I think it's a good move and an upgrade over Hibbert who was damn awful last year. A freaking stiff...

We are the laughingstock of the NBA in social media. Damn, it's sad on what we have become.

...my only misgivings is the terms if at all. It's not like we signed the second coming of Muresan.

That's fine. They won't be laughing for much longer when our young guys take off.

Let's take a look at our expectations here guys. We just saw that we couldn't get meetings with any of the big free agents, and we're seriously looking at our max slots next year?! What good did that do us this year?

I was in favor of a more balanced deal because it won't be until the 3rd year of his deal that we MIGHT really be competing. At that point every penny should matter in acquiring pieces so I'm happy to not have a $20M+ cap hit then.

Let's get meetings before we worry about max contracts for next year.

Remember it. Makes it that much sweeter when we win again.

That's what Kobe often referenced when he said they went from the top, to the bottom, and back to the top again.

Terms are 4 years and the last is a Team Option. I have no problem with the $$$$. The only legitimate complaint or concern that I could see is that we could have locked up Davis for less $$$$ last season. Mitch totally mismanaged there. No doubt.

I would've liked to see that extra max slot in case Westbrook comes so we could possibly act Durant or some other max guy to give him another star to play with.

I would have been happier with Leonard on that deal than Mozgov on his. I'd be happier trotting out Leonard, Black, and Zubac than being crippled in free agency going forward with 16 mil tied up in Mozgov. If we wanted to punt this offseason for next, we should have REALLY punted, left 2 max slots for next offseason. I can't get over this thing man, I just can't.

We can't keep hoarding cap space, man. We need to reach the salary floor. Of course that doesn't mean spending it irresponsibly, but look at it this way: if we need cap space, we have contracts that we could move next year if a star comes about and we need to go all in.
