Exactly. We don't know. Because we locked up Mozgov at 12:01.

Who cares about the Mavericks, seriously. Between the salary cap logic and the Mavericks not signing anyone, what the hell are we talking about? No one cares about the Mavericks. Lakers just let go of the worst center, statistically, last year, for the 2nd worst. And paid him 16.5 million for the next 3 years. With a knee problem. And a guy who's knee might now even be any good.

Great, Harkless is the Mozgov of SFs, and can't shoot threes, exactly what we need. :D Seriously can we not go after Ariza somehow?

I do not believe the Lakers made this move without gauging interest from the agents of their other players.

No, at his age his agent would have told him to wait. He was due for a payday by someone.

yea I meant to say Parson....I dont mind missing on him if he's getting a max deal. Thats a signing with as much potential to blow up in your face as the Whiteside signing....I think that knee is going to be a constant issue going forward. Dall knows something is up, cause Parson is a solid player and he must be a great recruiter seeing as how he got Howard to Hou and ALMOST Dj to Dall.

That "2nd worst" statistic is simply that: one stat. For a guy who had a cyst that wasn't given time to heal. Not micro fracture. Deep breaths.

So how much does the salary cap go up next year? Bresnahan just said we have $30 million left in cap. I'm assuming we're gonna spend most of that on a back-up wing, PG, and some vets to round out the roster. I'm also assuming we're not going to just do more one-year rentals and most of that remaining cap space will be for 2+ years.

So if that's the case, we'll have pretty much nothing to work with next year? We'll have no draft pick, mostly the same team, and have nothing to hope for but that our young core improves significantly?

It goes from 94 to at least 107. We'll have 13 at least to work with.

You are in a foul mood.

Well I would see it as more fair but I still dont like the signing....I know we're not getting big name FA but this felt like they gave up to quick and just signed someone who would say yes the fatest.

At this point I'd offer him a max too but it could absolutely blow up in your face. I agree completely. I'd rather have him than Turner or Harkless though.

is lakers FA over? i've seen nothing about them talking with other folks. where's my main man marvin williams? no contact with deng or lee? what's this harkless stuff? i'm ok with that. could there be a change of heart on maxing barnes--certainly he'd rather sign an offer sheet with us than with philly? or are we really the absolute sewer?

I think when the free agency period ends we'll realize that Mozgov was the best available realistic talent.

The feeling right now is a series of frustrations. Jim Buss face, Lakers losing 65 games, trying to watch sports and watching people getting paid to say stupid s*** that has nothing to do with sports, Jim Buss face, having 60 million to spend and not even one meeting with any relevant player, Jeanie's voice, paying a scrub 16 mil.

No difference makers have come. Not even a little.

One day into free agency and one fact has become clear: nearly every first or second tier player has little interest in signing with the Lakers.

Durant - Declined to meet with us while scheduling meetings with six other teams.

Whiteside - Declined to meet with us and resigned with Miami.

DeRozan - Declined to meet with us and resigned with Toronto.

Batum - Declined to meet with us and resigned with Charlotte.

Horford - Rumored to not be interested in signing with us.

Bazemore - Met with the Rockets, will meet with the Nets, no word on meeting with us but we're rumored to be pursuing him.

At least we're also rumored to be pursuing Moe Harkless and Evan Turner, and we signed Timofey Mozgov to that monster contract...

The lesson here is we will likely have to overpay third tier players to get them to sign. It's not surprising given how the Lakers have really fallen near the bottom of teams that players want to join.

Hopefully after a year of rehabilitation with Luke we'll be much more attractive in 2017 and more players will be interested in at least meeting with us.

At least I'm done venting. Hopefully Mitch finds a way to turn this around.

I think Mitch have made a ton of calls and planting seeds. Remember last season with Lou? He said he signed with us because we were one of the first teams to show interest. I am not worried.
