I'm hearing Deng might get too expensive, but I'd be okay with Turner, Harkless, Afflalo, or Williams.

I'd also call Mario Chalmers and see what's what. And I hate Chalmers from his Big Three Miami days...

    Parsons: Max
    Bazemore: $14 - $18 mil
    Deng: $12 - $16 mil
    Turner, Afflalo: $10 - $12 mil
    Crabbe, Harkless, Hill: $8 - $10 mil

If we can't get one of these guys at that price range, I'd rather just throw Ingram and Anthony Brown into the fire.

If Parsons goes to Portland, they'll probably let one of Harkless or Crabbe go (both are Restricted). I'd take a flier on one of them and force Portland to match. I know @trodgers isn't too high on Afflalo, but I'd take him too.

I think Turner ends up closer to 15 by the way.

The only player whose contract estimates I believe you got correct was Parson's at the max. Everyone else is too low for this market and CAP spike.

    I kind of want Bazemore.

We need some outside shooting. I wouldn't pay more than what I posted for Turner, Harkless, Hill, or Derrick Williams. I don't care what market value is. I'm sure Mitch (and some of you) feel differently.

If no Parsons, I'd stretch Young. I'd see what Baze is going for and gauge is interest.

I would too. He could start over Clarkson. They could split minutes at the 2, but he can also play some back up 3. If he wants 20 million give it to him. Some may disagree, but he's a three and D player and there aren't many available right now.

I'd start him at the 3.

That would work. Ingram may not be ready to start right away, but he'll get plenty of minutes off the bench. He is basically a high school kid.

    Russell
    Clarkson
    Ingram
    Randle
    MOZGOV

I'm really trying to convince myself how Timmy fits in this starting lineup. It's just seems like a bad fit. How will he and Randle coexist?

Just imagine Randle as Lebron. I do.

Why is it a bad fit? He is a gread PnR target, sets excellent screens is OK on O glass and will not need touches. He is also a good post defender and a shotblocker.
And finally... we have 2 young players we seem to like.

For me - NO WHITESIDE!!!!!!! YES!!!!!

I am 4/4 so far with not wanting Melo/Cousines/Love over the years.

Him and Thompson played pretty well together. They should be okay. There's plenty of spacing between our perimeter players and we can definitely add another shooter.

It's interesting when you go to the search bar and search for mentions of Mozgov in this thread.

Some thought (even months ago, to their credit) that he would be a good pick-up at starting center since he'd likely get considerably less money than the other free agent bigs. Some thought he was garbage and not worthy of an addition at all. Some thought he'd be a decently priced back-up option. Many of us flip-flopped on our opinions of his basketball talent and value several times.

We all knew how the salary cap was going up. Yet no one came close to speculating that he'd be the kind of guy to deserve the deal he got. He was always an afterthought. At best a cheap, but serviceable, consolation prize to allow us to spend our money elsewhere. Even when speculating and trying to plan out semi-realistic off-season plans, nobody was content slotting in Mozgov at the starting C position for anywhere near $16 million.

Yet a few hours after we sign him and there is nothing we can do about it, of course we all slowly buy in.

"He's a good center. Look at what he did in the Finals last year. Cleveland screwed him this season by rushing him from injury. He fell out of the rotation because of coaching issues. This is just how the new CBA works. He's going to end up being good value. We had to spend our money somewhere. We had a hole to fill. We had to act early before the market got crazy. Hoping we'd be able to sign someone more talented or at a better value is delusional. The fanbase is full of negative nancies who always overreact and act like the sky is falling."

Just some observations. Not saying those points are inherently wrong, but funny how we only come to those conclusions after the fact.

Ah, you're the guy who was vehemently against Whiteside and continue to "jokingly" criticize Ingram's tattoos. Beginning to make sense why you're content with this move and keep calling out anyone who criticizes it.

What do you expect from hardcore Laker fans? After initially being upset by it a lot of us looked more into it and calmed down and came to the realization that it's not such a bad deal. If people disagree that's fine, but this won't be the worst deal in free agency.

I'm not talking about the initial emotionally-charged outburst of negativity. I'm talking about how even before free agency started, when a lot of us were calmly and rationally planning our free agent moves, none of us seemed to want anything like this. Now it's okay.

Is it a matter of us wanting too much and not being realistic in our plans early on? Maybe. But maybe it's some Stockholme Syndrome going on where we're going to try to rationalize and find contentment, after the fact, with any move we make...

I have no problem stating that I hate every part of this move. The Western conference's team to beat is Golden State, the small ball era's poster child team. So we go and sign a guy who couldn't get on the floor vs. them in a series because he's unable to match up with them? Unless Shaq, Ewing and Olajuwon are making a comeback, I really don't get this move. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I hate this Mozgov signing and don't understand how this makes us better going forward.
