Strength is an underrated trait for a center. Mozgod won't easily be moved by Olajuwon or Ewing.

This is a bad reason for being against the deal. I admit this.

But my grandparents are big Laker fans. Well as much as you can be as 70/80 year old immigrants from Fiji. They watch most Laker games and can remember players that have interacted with the Lakers historically like Vlade Divac, Brian Cook, Luis Scola, Kendrick Perkins, Mark Madsen and infinitely more minor players that have either played for or against the Lakers.

But they get most of their sports news from watching ESPN on cable TV or reading what's on the Press Enterprise (the physical newspaper). They don't know how the salary cap works. They have no idea who Mozgov is. They were getting themselves semi-excited at the idea of Durant or Lebron (screw you Stephen A).

I love them to death, but it will be extremely frustrating and a test of my patience when I wake up tomorrow and have to try to calmly, simplistically, and optimistically explain to them why we signed Timofey Mozgov for that amount of money.

Watching Part 1 & 2 of his 2015 season highlights. If he can return to that type of play. He's going to help us ton. Just from a finishing ability around the basket, the guy tries to dunk just about everything.

Why did those 2 names jump into what you wrote? :KobeConfused: Agree about strength.

He just needs to stay healthy. If he does, he'll be fine.

Yes. Cleveland screwed him. Mozgov will get himself healthy and be solid for us.

Yes and no. The general public has been absolutely roasting get the Lakers. Sports Illustrated, ESPN, Fox 1 etc. They've been killing the Lakers. If this was a smaller market and it wasn't so fun to s*** on us though, those same outlets would be much more supportive and understanding. The initial shock would be replaced quickly with "well they had to do something and this fits with what they wanted to do". I guarantee you those stories take longer to get out in our market.

Eventually everyone will see this was a reasonable deal, but by then public perception will have already been set negatively.

I'm not sure I feel right about a 5 year deal for a 30 year old wing player.

So I'm guessing the next shoe to drop is a $15 mil + deal for Turner? Seems like there aren't even any reports of meetings with Parsons now that Portland and Memphis are lining up with max offers for him. What other wings are out there?

I don't expect them to spend all of that. Honestly I expect them to now see if they can get a meeting with Parsons. If that falls through, then they'll throw a decent amount at Turner. After that I expect nothing but expirings. No reason to spend all our money this summer on role players. We might as well save some of it if we've already filled out the roster.
