I don't care if Kobe takes 25-30 or more. Just give me good shot selection. The type of shots he took was pretty dumb. Right now, Kobe is shooting 37%. He's going up against Arron Afflalo on sunday. Kobe shot 37% against Afflalo in his career against him.

whats going on with kobe...? i havent seen last couple of games couse i cant afford to stay till 7am couse of my job. i know he has way below average team, and that he has to shoot a lot...but what is the reason that he makes iverson looking like ray allen...??? is it becouse his previous injury...are most of his shots good looks, or he is just gunning... i know he is in the 19th season and so far #1 scorer in the league...which is amazing...but i dont want him to get scoring title with shooting under 40%...that definetly would look worse than good in his resume...
Here is a game where I agree with you Savory. His shot was clearly off, his defense was non-existent, he has to trust the other guys on the court and pick his spots a whole lot better in games like tonight. He shouldn't be dominating the ball and shooting difficult jumpers, he needs to realize this. Now if he was shooting >50%, then by all means keep shooting IMO. Byron needs to step up and either sit him or call plays where Lin is running the show. So far this season it's been when Kobe is on he's on and when he's off he's really off. If his teammates are on when he's having a poor shooting game, he needs to adjust plain and simple and that is where I agree with you.
Kobe isn't going to change at this point ... His shots selection was always above average at best even in his prime and with very good talent around him . As Tex Winter said , Kobe understands the game better than he plays it ... 6.5 attempts a game from downtown when you average below 29% from this distance is stubborness at its best
MY money is hell improve on his shooting % numbers as the season goes on,being this is his 13th game back after a year and a half, give or take.
as much as I can praise Kobe he needs to get criticized this time. I think the team was right in the game the whole first half. Lin and Hill was rolling and Wes and Boozer was solid. freaking all 4 players was playing well and all was left was to Kobe be Kobe. and he stinked it. Kobe got the team out of rhythm and the second half was finished before it started.
i'm a huge kobe fan. he's the reason i started watching bball around 08/09. this season, my respect for him as a player is going down game by game. the amount of terrible, difficult, low percentage iso shots he takes per game this season is beyond frustrating. any time he tosses it up, i automatically expect it to be a brick. how can one of the greatest ever take this many low percentage shots and expect to win games? he has to be in on the stealth tank or something lol
This is how Kobe reacts to a system with no structure. It is why the triangle and a strong coach was needed. Don't bring back the triangle but do something Kobe. Ring Fisher or Phil, heck read Lakersball.com.
Kobe hasn't focused on the defensive end in a long time.. He wasn't a lockdown defender when we won our last 2 rings. What he is, is 1 of the greatest scorers to ever step on the court. We don't have the pieces around him for him to succeed right now. He's still an elite scorer, the guy everyone wants to crown the new best SG in the league is scoring less than Kobe on equally bad percentages while playing no defense at all & his team is off to a 10-3 start. Nitpick Kobe's game all you want but he simply isn't the problem.
Kobe played an excellent 31 minutes last night. The problem is that he was on the court a lot longer than that. Remember: we hadn't scored the first 6 1/2 minutes of the fourth quarter except for 3 points from Kobe.
Bad Kobe showed up in the 4h, destroyed a great game played by good Kobe and Lin (being aggressive as asked). In the post game he basically said good Kobe was too passive when we were winning the game and other guys were contributing. We're not even going to sniff the playoffs this year so good Kobe should be out there every game playing team ball whether or not the rest of the guys can knock it down, build their confidence up just so they can perform a useful role while out on the court. Baaaad Kobe...might have cost us this one.
Was at the game: Kobe came down the floor and commanded every possession in the 4th/OT with that post up on the left block. They guarded him single coverage and he couldn't make them pay. He lost the game single-handedly BUT Lin and company needed to take charge and show some more heart. Run a pick and roll. Run some sort of action besides isolating Kobe and then not grabbing a rebound off his bricks.

Safe to say thats what lead to the Kobe people dont like due to that manner? I didnt watch the game. Also on another note, the games I have watched this season, every time Kobe goes out it seems we cant get a bucket to save our lives.
Kobe played a really, really good game for the first 3 quarters. His defense slipped up a few times, but for the most part, he played a much better game. A lot of people are also harping on Kobe for the isos and inefficient shooting. It's true to a certain extent that Kobe can play better team ball, but really, the coaches should take the brunt of the blame. Every player has flaws. Kobe is no different. LeBron, Durant, and Duncan also have their flaws. It's the coach's job to hide those flaws and display their strengths, especially when the player gets older. How have Nash (until his body kept breaking down), Duncan, and Dirk managed to play at the top of their games? They didn't do it alone. They had the help of their coaches. When your star player gets older, he isn't quite as explosive. He can't break down the defenses as consistently as when he was younger. He can't break double teams as much as when he was younger. He'll shoot more jumpers and attack less. The coach has to find ways to work around that and put them in better spots. The coach has to find ways to make the puzzle pieces fit. What has our coach done? It's just a bunch of isos. Players are standing around. When Lin does call a play, nobody moves with a purpose. They look confused. Numerous times a game, Jordan Hill ends up with the ball at the top of the key and holds it for 10 seconds. He's seriously just standing there with the ball and looking for someone to pass it to. How about setting up an offense and going to it early? We cross the halfcourt line and barely start running our offense with about 15 seconds left in the shot clock. Kobe is consistently relied upon to break down the defenses as if he were 26 years old. How about running to their spots so that we get started with 18-20 seconds left in the shot clock, instead of having Kobe iso with 10 seconds left? How about running to their spots to cause some mismatches early on? How about having an offense that requires people to move off the ball? Or if they do get the ball, lets make a quick move right off the catch? Instead, we're always waiting for a pick that the bigs take their sweet time setting. If we're not setting a pick, the players are thinking of what to do next rather than moving instinctively. You know how we're always looking like we're scrambling on defense? Well, imagine if players on the other team held the ball for 5+ seconds every time they got the ball. We wouldn't be scrambling. That's enough time to reset our defense. Well, that's what we're letting them do. We're letting defenses set and be ready. Imo, a huge part of that falls on Byron Scott.
