Ok, finished reading 10 pages. Boy this thread moves fast.

Whiteside seems like the most realistic big. We absolutely need a max center and he fits the bill.

Other positions I'm not too keen on signing max deals. Parsons is a ticking timebomb. I like Batum alot but not for 27 million. We have Ingram locked up at that position for 8+ years. I would give Deng 20 million for a shorter contract. Finally, no to Conley.

    Adams
    Horford
    Durant
    Oladipo
    Westbrook

Wow. If that team is put together, OKC goes in front of the line as the favorites to winning it all. And then Westbrook aint going anywhere next year. We need Durant to bounce to have a shot at Westbrook next year for sure.

Russell needs to be the PG of this team. He can slide to the off guard on occasion but his potential is at the PG position.

Between Conley, Noah, and Parsons, you are risking too much money for guys who have too much wear on their bodies at very fragile parts of the body.

I would pass on Conley. Derozan isnt worth the max but you would have to max him to cover an important position the Lakers can use. 23 points a game and good mid range is great.

Signing DD means you are affecting Clarkson and Russell himself. High volume shooter and less than stellar defensively. Unlike Conley who can play both ends and provide the intangibles and leadership this team badly needs.

I have a feeling we'll look like a bunch of fools with no real good FA signings. If out of desperation we max out Parsons, i might jump off the window...

Because of a Dingus article, the odds are stacked against us and we may have no choice but "punt" again for next year.

In all honesty, Lakers REALLY need a center. If they get Whiteside or Horford, the off season is a complete success. They would have filled 2 huge holes at SF with Ingram and C with Whiteside or Horford.

Yeah, our biggest hole is at center and it's not even close. We need a player with starter/allstar talent there. The other positions we could fill out with vets.

I can see Durant meeting with clippers. They'd have to get creative, but Cp3 and Biff are right now better players than anyone we have. If they could create space, CP3, Durant, and Griffin is an exceptionally good start.

CPFloppio doesn't win anything in his career. I am certain of that, Durant or no Durant.
So... you go KD. You will be the lesson all the rest of the players will learn forever - Clippers are s***.

i actually figured they'd move griffin to bring in durant; keep everyone else and maybe have some space to fill out the roster, too? s&t with griffin to okc might mike durant feel better about leaving and give okc a guy a) with whom they are familiar and b) who will put butts in seats and keep them competitive.

as for the parsons talk...i think he gets max for less than 4 years, and i think the lakers should strongly consider it. if he does get injured again, more minutes for ingram. if not, you nabbed a very good starting sf with only cap space, which is a win. he's also one of the better connected guys in the league--he could bring other FAs to la. my hope would be a 2-year max with a team option for a third. i'm guessing he'd push for a player option on the third. i might cave if the doctors thought it possible he makes it through all three years. but folks are right: he is a ticking time bomb in terms of the knee. still, begging and choosing...

i also see parsons going to the clips if they strike out on durant (likely). they'll offer the full four years at whatever they can fit whilst retaining redick.

parsons, batum, or barnes at the max is fine with me.

i don't think we have a chance with horford. i don't see why we're interested nor do i think we have a chance with conley.

center appears to be whiteside or bust.

in full bust scenario (looking sadly likely), i think you're looking at a center position manned by a mahinmi/koufos level player, maybe marvin williams (if you overpay), and courtney lee (ditto). all solid additions, but it would basically be another year of kicking the can down the road. and finishing 13th in the conference.

right now best realistic option would be whiteside and parsons, with some money left for williams or lee. but even that seems like a longshot.

If Durant somehow ends up on the clippers, I hope he fails just as miserably as that franchise has in the past. Salty? Sure. But again....the clippers??? After all that love you gave Kobe during the season? Okay moving on.

Red flags or not, we need Whiteside more than anything else because he basically represents a somewhat decent offseason after years of striking out. And makes us respectable. At the same time I'm bracing for a worst case scenario this period where we get no one of substance. I would be mildly surprised but not totally unexpected.

Lakers should be interested in every good player, they need talent. Can't be picky, especially when we aren't the most attractive option.
