Again... This is me being sad... Such a good fit for us and for 18 million it'll be a solid deal. This is basically going to be the same contract I was hoping the Lakers would offer him. Oh well.

Starting to hear Eric Gordon mentioned with lots of teams that are looking for shooting. Big 1 year deals seem the preference for teams

From same person on RealGM (mod):
    Quote:
I'm hearing the Lakers are planning a big push for Horford and Batum. They've gotten the word that Durant isn't interested.

Pistons are also in on both Horford and Batum as well.

From Bonkers on LG. Guy is a mod on Real GM: Looks like the combo might be Batum/Horford. Perfect fits for a GS type system.

I hope those guys aren't talking out of their butts. Do they have any track record of being correct?

That's literally a dream off-season for the Lakers.

    Russell/Clarkson
    Batum/Williams
    Ingram/Brown?
    Randle/Nance Jr.
    Horford/Zubac/Black

That's a heck of a fun team right there. Unfortunately I'm not sure it's realistic... I mean I'd love for that to happen but isn't it far more realistic Horford goes somewhere more competitive? Or even somewhere like Detroit that has an easier path and he'd get them to the playoffs? I don't know... I won't get my hopes up.

I have no idea and asked the same thing. It's a rumors thread on RealGM. I don't know how connected the guys is that is starting these rumors.

    Here's his statement: '
I'm too lazy to re-type something I put on Twitter. I hope you all don't mind.

Full disclosure, I'll throw stuff on the boards that is still very loose. The stuff that goes on Twitter has a little more meat behind it.'

Isn't Batum a 3 though? 6'8, listed at SF wherever I look. Can he play the 2 if we want to start Ingram? Or maybe they'd be interchangeable at those spots. Heck, that's a problem I'd love to have to figure out later. But I agree, while Batum doesn't seem out of the question to me at 27, Horford seems so unlikely to join a rebuild at 30.

Ugh, that suddenly reminded me of that one chump reporter who worked for RealGM and was Dwight's confidante during the Dwightmare. He'd be posting conflicting reports every other hour.

Nowadays, it feels like 2's, 3's, and 4's are all pretty much interchangeable lol. I'm pretty sure we'd be fine with Batum and Ingram at 2/3.

Batum is more of a SF, but in the system we run the SG and SF are interchangeable. Ingram could technically be the SG if we needed him to be. Keep in mind the rotation would pump one of those guys out probably halfway through the 1st and put Clarkson in so the other would slide down (presumably Batum).

Then we'd have Russell/Clarkson/Batum/Randle/Horford or maybe Clarkson/Williams/Batum/Nance Jr./Black or something like that. That bench would be pretty explosive.

Pistons needs to make one more small move to get the room to give Horford the max. Orlando has interest in Horford, who knows what the hell their doing? Houston had interest, and some other teams probably will, but we have the space to give him a max right now AND ADD ADDITIONAL TALENT. Sure, we're a rebuilding squad, but our message should be this: Horford, we have $60 million dollars, after we pay you the max, there is still room to add additional talent; now tell us, who would you like to play with?

Any word on how willing Charlotte is to offer Batum the max? Last I heard, he really liked it there and wanted to stay with the Hornets. But if they're offering $20 million and we're offering $27, I think that might be enough to entice him.

Last I heard, they (Cha and Batum) were going to try to get a deal done quickly so that Batum could play for France this summer. How willing was Cha willing to pay him the max? I have no idea. When push comes to shove, does Michael pony up the cabbage? I have no idea. I guess we'll see.

If we got Horford and Batum, or Whiteside and Batum, or Horford and Parsons, or Whiteside and Parsons....this off-season is a HUGE success. I know people are apprehensive about giving Parsons 22M, but make no mistake about it....he would be very nice in this GS style offense. He needs to stay healthy obviously, but if he's healthy, he's a huge pick up for this team. He also is a good veteran presence for the young guys without being overbearing (I can see the young guys hangin out with Parsons....which I prefer over them hanging out with stupid Nick Young).

I'd heard they didn't want to offer him the max, but he is insisting on it as he should in this market. If they blink, hopefully Mitch can make a compelling argument. Let's be honest: how much more appealing is the Charlotte roster than LA's? Kemba and... Hm.

It's not much more appealing at, IMO. Come on down, Batum. Screw Cha...

Good point. I mean they did have a nice run and nearly won 50 games....but yeah they have to spend on quite a few guys (marvin williams, jeremy lin, al jefferson, courtney lee etc) to keep that team together and competitive. Charlotte does have MKG already though to replace Batum....and they can probably re-sign both Marvin Williams and Courtney Lee to a combined amount of what Batum would have gotten. It's an interesting time for Charlotte. Do they spend $25M on Batum when they're already kind of loaded at the wing spot? I'm not sure.

If we get Whiteside or Horford...Batum would need to seriously consider us over Charlotte. Heck, we would still have room for a third guy at around 10-15M per year....that's enough for one or two more rotation guys.
