Parsons would be a great add.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking; I think we got a good shot at him if we pursue him, and we probably will. I also like the Iggy (if GS goes after Durant) and Ariza (Rockets rumored to be shopping him) moves. If healthy, he's an ideal add for our group.

The Ariza move is as intriguing as the Hawes.

For what it's worth Ramona has been touting Parsons for weeks.

She did also say today that we could make a big push for Whiteside too though, so we'll see.

We could snag both. I'd be thrilled.

If we did snag both, we'd snag the 8th seed, IMO.

My only concern with Parsons is injury. If he were healthy the last couple seasons and didn't have this recent injury history, or if he'd come cheap because of the injuries, I'd be interested in him. There are multiple other players I go after first though, because of the injuries.

Definitely. I think Parsons is a good fit, but given his multitude of injuries (micorfracture surgery!) he'll have to come very cheap.

Parsons was a tough cover before the injuries hit... Now, I am not sure if he can even be three quarters of his former self.

if parsons hadn't been injured, he wouldn't be available. the mavs are refusing max as an opening negotiating stance. i think this speaks volumes, as if healthy, parsons is a clear max in this FA climate. that said, the lakers should think about this one. i don't think deng's much less of a risk, and i don't think he's going to be much cheaper, either. assuming they don't want to go after an RFA (barnes) and batum's max is higher (and likely to be met by his current team), parsons might be the most obtainable impact FA at the sf.

his ballhandling, shooting, and passing ability would fit nicely into what luke's going to want to do here. in addition, for whatever reason, he seems to be "that dude" in terms of who guys want to play with. i could see him wanting to be in la and having the potential to bring somebody with him.

Microfracture ain't what it used to be.

The injuries really scare me with Parsons, or else I'd be completely on board with this idea.

Agree that Parsons does have the pre-requisite skill set to fit in the space and pace game Walton will implement. Deng will be higher price tag plus I see him sticking in South Beach. Barnes has been underwhelming so the less bang for the buck criticism has validity in some circles. Batum has indicated he is staying so that looks to be a done deal.

Isn't Parsons still re-habbing and not fully recovered? Haven't really followed his progress.

haven't heard, and parsons's camp wouldn't want to play that up. all i know is that parsons is in it for him, and the mavs have drawn a line in the sand regarding offering max right off the bat. thus, i think he 's out there to be had. i'm certain he'd want to play in la. are the lakers willing to offer big money? could he bring horford with him? do we want that?

He already had the microfracture - and returned successfully from that. This is a minor surgery. Meniscus.

The knees concern me. Don't mistake that, but this most recent one isn't anything major.

    OK...I'll give this a shot:

    Starters:
    PG - Russell
    SG - Afflalo
    SF - Parsons [or Ariza?]
    PF - Randle
    C - Hawes

    Bench
    PG/SG: Clarkson
    SG: Williams
    SF: Ingram
    SF: Brown
    PF: Nance
    C: Black

Zubac will be a stash...D-League boarding school. Don't know if our cap holds for all of the above... I'm being more grounded about Whiteside, Horford, Biyombo and Noah...

Understood... Yes, Parsons likes the attention, is Mr. Personality and should run for office. Brass should offer a sizeable yet reasonable sum but convince him that some should be left on the table for another notable free agent.

I have moved away from the Afflalo bandwagon a bit. He's not obviously better than Clarkson. Or, supposing he is, it's not by enough to pay him a ton of money to come here and put a young, developing player on the bench. Afflalo isn't the defender he used to be, but he can stroke the three. Is he worth 10M+?

Parsons/Horford or Parsons/Whiteside and we won this off-season, IMO. I want to contend for the PO's next season

No on the $10+ mil prof... $8 mil maybe he'd give us a look... I'd start Clarkson IF we can find a reliable back-up point in that scenario. Who can that be? Not keen on Huertas coming back.

    Order of priority for me:
    Center
    Small Forward
    Back-up Point Guard

That Gary Payton II? Listed as an under-the-radar draftee per SI...
