Which means he isn't trading any of the kids.

    Good to hear.

    Also $$ Mitch, don't forget the $$.

The more I think about it the more I think we're going to throw 60-65 million at Joakim Noah and ask him to lead this group forward. I bet we're also on the phone with guys like Courtney Lee, Aaron Afflalo, and Luol Deng. All of them are capable of playing good minutes when the kids need to sit and all of them can help build a respectful and fun culture.

I guess if we can't get Horford or Whiteside I wouldn't mind Noah. I'd just prefer a younger, less injured alternative. Doesn't seem to be one though. He is a good leader and at least we have Tarik when he inevitably gets injured again. A realistic kind of dream I guess would be Bazemore, Whiteside, Dudley and re-signing Bass.

    Russell/Huertas/
    Bazemore/Clarkson/
    Ingram/Dudley/Brown
    Randle/Nance Jr/Bass
    Whiteside/Black/Zubac.

Nice group of youth, athleticism, defense, shooting, and vets. I think that's a team that's excited and may even contend for the playoffs till March or so.

Give me any combination of Noah, Deng, Afflalo, Mahimi or Lee and I'd be happy with the offseason.

Reading this and looking at our youth I would be surprised if we went after Whiteside.

Noah, Horford, Mahimi, Deng, Lee, and I'm sure a few other veterans could be in the running. I would even be open to Demar.

Finally learning picks are valuable.....i hated the days when we use to give away picks as if it was a disease, like attaching a 1st rd pick to dump an expiring sasha.

Veteran leadership = any solid NBA player over 28 yrs old, not named Dwight, JR Smith, or the like

If we are going veteran leadership (Excluding big names) at positions of need, I'm looking at......

    Backup PG - Chalmers, Sessions
Wings - Lee, Afflalo, Deng, Marvin
    Bigs - Bass, Noah, Nene

I really like Chalmers, Deng, Bass if we pick up a top center.

    DAR (5.3) / Chalmers (10)
    JC (2.8 QO) / Lou (7)
    Ingram (4.4) / Deng (25)* / Brown (1)
    Randle (3.3) / Nance (1.2)
    _______ (23) / Bass (10) / Big Z (1)

*I don't know how much weight it would hold with these wing FA veterans, but I'd just throw a 1+1 huge offer like that to them and see if they bite. Judging by our roster and what we NEED we can afford to throw big money on key role players like that. I think most of those guys sign 2 year deals with option on a 3rd around the same money for the first two years. Try to sell them on maximizing their worth with salary cap going up again next year.

That's what @abeer3 and I have been building pretty much, but with Bass replaced by Tarik. I like the equal spread though. I'm thinking we do something like:

    Noah- 2+1/60
    Deng/Afflalo- 2+1/50

That's my starting point. The rest is more up for grabs. I'd be cool with 1/10 million dollar deals (or whatever the math ends up being) for other veterans. I'm sure the Lakers would like to conserve some cash for the bigger 2017 FA class. Still though, adding Noah and Deng to this group would be great. They'd fit really well, provide leadership, and would legitimize the team in a lot of ways. No we won't contend for a ring this season, but we'd be building something really special and could win 35 some odd games next year.

I really am liking the Marvin Williams signing. He is supposedly a really good locker room guy who can play a couple positions for us. I'd actually rather have him than Deng at this point. Sessions at backup pg more so than Chalmers. Center...that's the tricky one. I don't want to tie up money on Whiteside cause I think he will be an albatross as early as next season. Noah seems like a good fit, but I'm pretty sure he's going to Minny to rejoin Thibs and work with their outstanding young core.

Afflalo at that amount is a bad idea. He doesn't do the defensive thing he used to, and he's not a great shooter. Deng is the far superior player, in my view.

you're not at all worried about deng's mileage? scares me how many minutes he's played.

I want him for two years. He's still an elite combo of offense and defense. He would undoubtedly be our best player, even if we signed Whiteside, too.

.... and it will be Luke in the pitch room instead of Byron. Just let that sink in.
