Epic. Misuse of Wun Wun was dumb though. Should be swinging a club or at least throwing boulders. No more giants
Over the time, I have gone a little tired of the TV show. The previous season was awful IMO. This one has been better, but far from great. With that being said, after having watched the last episode... EPIC
Jon Snow on that long shot of him fighting in the middle of it all was insane. The shot of Jon Snow drowning in bodies had me holding my breath and losing my breath as if I were him. I could literally feel him panicking and gasping for air. I'm curious as to what cost more money, the stuff in Meereen or the Battle of Bastards? I mean people assumed before hand that they were going to use the entire budget on the BoB, but honestly...that Meereen scene with all the graphical work on the dragons might have cost more than the 100's of extras. This show has shown what can be done on TV. Why don't we have an Old Republic Star Wars show yet?
And my biggest face palm moment from last night: I was literally yelling at the TV and shaking my head for him not doing this. Because of this I felt nothing when he died. Meanwhile:
Me too... kind of... until I actually saw the dog ripping of his jaw. That satisfied my thirst for blood lol
The dog that started the "feast" was beautiful. I wish it was Ghost but a sick looking pitbull will do .
I felt absolutely nothing for that kid when he died. Nothing. I felt more for the promiscuous wildling who died trying to kill Bolton. I felt more for Jon not getting there in time. I felt bad for the dogs who didn't get to eat for a week... Rickon? Meh.
I was really disappointed that the show once again played the saved at the last second card, and made it obvious it was going to happened. It removed all the tension for me since I was waiting for Littlefinger to arrive by the end of the battle. Still, the presentation and visuals of the battle were extremely impressive, especially when Jon was "drowning" in a sea of bodies. It was nice to see Ramsay finally taken down, and even better to have Sansa watch to take what little solace she could after the way he brutalized her.
I was actually surprised because this was episode 9, and a good guy always dies there. I expected that Wildling guy to die and Jon to have to retreat
This is what worries me about this upcoming episode. Tormund, Davos, Jon, Sansa...even Ghost all survived. I feel like SOMEBODY we love is going to die somehow in episode 10. Kind of the showrunners messing with us. "Oh...you thought you escaped episode 9 without much heartache? I'm just going to have Littlefinger slit Davos throat because, well, he's THE Littlefinger."
I felt Tormund wouldn't die since the show made a point to show him ogling Brienne on more than one occasion. I felt strongly that Littlefinger would appear after Sansa wrote to him and seemed insistent that Jon wait for more troops. Just too much foreshadowing IMO. From a plot perspective the battle seemed weaker than others in past episodes due to the heavy foreshadowing the show used. Still, it was a great battle and probably the most visually stunning episode yet. Now they need to wrap things up neatly in the season finale and set the stage for the invasion of Westeros by Daenerys (it's amazing how the season is already ending).
I mean playing the cliche card was actually NOT cliche for this show. It was a departure from what they usually do so it worked fine for me. Sometimes fan service is fine plot service too. The Starks needed a win eventually.
