I don't think it's worth scrapping DAR's career and the next decade in P&G. We need to add a Center and a SG (or at least a versatile 2/3). DA's passing skills were never on display in Byron's system, but he's obviously a PG, and he's going to be good. Adding Conley means DA has to play SG (which he's not) or puts him on the bench (which is a terrible idea). We'd still be weak at SG, and we'd still have to start a raw rookie at SF. Too redundant to be an overall improvement for the team. Right?

I have suggested that Conley is the only PG who interests me as a starting addition to this team, but I worry what that could do to this team long term. He'd be better rated than any of those other players I've profiled so far, at +6. Durant, for reference, is +16, crushing everyone. He's very good, but I don't think he's a good fit here.

Magic played 2guard up to his 3rd year I believe with Nixon doing point duties. I don't think DAR will be affected long term by it, in fact it will take the pressure off him.

So, a team that has the following wouldn't achieve a modicum of success?

    Russell/Clarkson/Frazier
    DeRozan/Williams/Moore
    Ingram/Vujacic
    Randle/Nance
    Whiteside/Black/Rook (Qi?)

I'd offer to Sasha, E'Twuan Moore, and Tim Frazier to see how many of them we could add cheap. And I'd draft a big with our second round pick. Honestly, knowing GS's system, the thought of that second unit is tantalizing. JC and Black can run the PnR, three guys can hit the three, and Lou just knows how to score. Plus, the 3-5 all play defense.

It's a long game, and you have to build the right way. Putting your stud young guys on the bench isn't the way to do that. Think of Pop treated Tony Parker.

Magic was 6'9", playing in a skinny man's league. I don't like the thought of DA at SG. I don't hate it, but I don't like it.

The thing is TD erased a lot of TP's mistakes. We don't have that kind of leadership to give DAR the freedom to make mistakes unless we want mediocrity yet again. Conley cures a lot of what ails this team. Smarts and discipline.

That team would be more hated than the Bad Boys Pistons teams of the late 80's.

Random thought. Does Durant want to stay in OKC more after seeing LeBron win one in Cleveland? The guy who brings the title to the small market has to be a huge factor.

I honestly don't think he cares that much, he just wants to win one.

For what it's worth Max and Marcellus (hardly the greatest sources, I know) say that the people they've talked to say Durant is focused on joining a winner maybe including OKC, but all of his friends, family, and business partners want him in a bigger market. That's why the LA talk never died down because if LA looks competitive, he'll really consider joining. That's why last season was so hurtful to the organization. We showed almost no growth that a FA could rely on.

Hooray! Terrific fit in the offense and would be a very good veteran leader for this team. It'd have to be a max offer probably to make him consider, but that's someone I've been hoping for!

I'm looking for the link, but I can't find it. A few months ago the word was he was looking for a bigger city with a bigger Dominican population.

It's so much money. It scares me a bit, but I'd embrace him. It's not ideal, but it helps. A lot.

I was doing some investigation on Hoopshype. The consensus the last 1 month or so is that Horford wants to come back and Atlanta will spend the money to keep him. However, the further along you read there some interesting things: Atlanta was willing to listen to trade offers involving Horford this past season; 4 months ago ESPN reported that the Hawks ownership was a bit 'skittish' giving Horford the max.

A max deal for Horford for the Lakers would be 4 years $107 millioI think. I'd probably pull the trigger on that and force Atlanta's hand. Hordford is a perfect fit with Julius, and he can ewasily give you 18-20 minutes at the 5 position. He can shoot from anywhere on the floor, his rim-protection can be spotty, but he's a quality team defender and plays in a system that incorporates some of the same principles that Luke wants to implement.

I dont see Derozen as a positive to this team. Hes a terrible fit with his high usg, low eff offense...if we need a sg instead get a catch and shoot type with low usg and a respectable D....something Derozen isnt
