Big changes how? All those names earn a fraction of the money. If the Warriors waived their rights to Barnes and Ezeli and made them true FAs they'd have just under 18 million to spend. That gives them room for one solid addition and then they need to fill out with the same type of scrubs/backups again.

If they don't waive their rights to Barnes and Ezeli they have only 8 million to spend. I'm not sure big changes really make sense for them.

Now if they want to jettison guys like Iggy and Bogut, then I'm listening. Only one year left on those deals, solid vets, and they know the system.

really feel like there's some overreaction right now.

through 4 games in the finals, barnes was averaging 12 and 5 on over 50% from the floor and 40% from three. he had three miserable games, which coincided with some stinkers from many of his teammates.

it just doesn't move the needle much for me. it's not like he forgot how to play basketball, and it's not like the lakers need to be worried about how he performs in the nba finals. they need to worry about the fact that they currently have, like, zero proven nba starters on the roster. getting one in FA will mean paying, whether it's barnes, parsons, or any other player who has been deemed wholly unworthy in this thread at some point.

I agree. I feel like we have three choices regarding acquisitions this off season.

    A) Go for the home run all star that will lead the team for years to come, we try to get every season and have thus far failed to get.

    B) Go for solid players that can be veteran presences on the team.

    C) do nothing and save money for next season.

A is unrealistic to me, and C is a waste of a season.

B is the only choice that makes sense at this point, and as such, a young two way player that has been a key part of winning a championship is one of the best acquisitions we can make. He doesn't need to be a game changer. He just needs to be better than average on both ends of the court and stay healthy.

Of all the names out there that might be possible Barns checks off all those needs.

Barnes is a Career 10pt 4.6reb 1.5ast player. He has flashes of greatness, but disappears way too often.
He is what he is at this point & he's Not a Max player by any stretch..

Heck.. Bazemore has better numbers than Barnes & plays fewer mpg..

    Called that one. :D

The chances are slim, but you better believe there's a chance. I knew this was coming if LeBron won a ring.

I agree with that concept, but I'm just unwilling to pay 20 million a year for a solid player. I won't do that. If GS waives their right to him and he is available for a reasonable cost, then sure I'm back in but that's a long shot.

We're not getting DeRozan, Biyombo, Horford, Barnes, etc. Stop being delusional guys.

There's no way we can afford them after signing Lebron and Durant

I don't think we have much choice about the salary.

I expect we either overpay for someone, or sit still and do nothing in free agency this season. There aren't many players out there we can get as good as Barns that we wouldn't be over paying for, so I'd rather have a guy that knows the offense, is a two way player, and is young.

That's fair enough. I'd prefer overpaying short-term for solid vet types like Deng or Parsons than overpaying long-term on Barnes that's all. I know it'll be hard to convince someone to come here without another star already here, but I feel like we'd really regret signing Barnes to an 80 million dollar deal.

Barnes will likely become a max player coming off the bench for us. I think Ingram will be better than Barnes by the ASG.

I'd be pretty happy with any 2 of these guys + Ingram/Simmons...

Whiteside, DeRozan, Horford, Barnes, Parsons, Batum, Anderson, Deng, Turner & Bazemore.

I feel that's a very realistic possibility... Barring any trades.

IIRC that's how the Bron back to CLE rumors started locally around here.

Yep that's true. It started with his family seen back in Cleveland and some moving trucks outside his house. I mean there's definitely some smoke here but I'm mostly just playing around. I don't actually expect LeBron to make this move.

Not a james fan but honestly even with a young core we basically could replicate his current cavs team. Russell is quite a few notches below kyrie, jc is better ver of jr imo, randle is also a poorer ver of tt. With that said if ingram is a good as we hope to be, i dont see why y he couldnt equate to klove on clev as far as offense goes and he could be a better defender than love. Clev role players on the bench are insignificant compared to ours. If james took 30mill make, we give wade 15mill ish contract and allocate the remaining to ring chasers

It doesn't seem as ridiculous to me as it used to since he got Cleveland their title. I don't see Durant wanting to team up with him though, don't they not get along? Or is that Durant and Dwight? IF LeBron could get Durant to join him on the Lakers it's a pretty genius move on his part though, we have a nice young core building, he'd be back in a huge market, Hollywood, and positioning himself to really overtake Kobe by taking over his franchise. I still don't want LeBron, but I could see that reasoning and us being an actual consideration if he could convince just one star buddy of his to join him. Russ, Durant, LeBron, Randle, whoever, JC and Nance on the bench, Ingram, heck of a start. I'll gladly build with just the youth we have though, not a LeBron fan.
