Yeah we actually agree on this. I'm not second guessing our scouting department. They're the only ones who have been consistently great these last few years in the organization. Their draft boards seem weird to us sometimes, but they've figured it out. A couple years ago when they selected Randle I believe a bunch of us were shocked that McDermott was high on their list and higher than some of the guys we'd considered. Like you said last year they had Porzingis ahead of Okafor which shocked a bunch of us including me. They were right. If they go in a different direction than Ingram, I'll be surprised but I'll still trust their decision. I just hope they don't make a mistake and draft someone besides Ingram at #2 because you can get Hield a few draft spots later. Trade down if you like someone better than Ingram otherwise you're kind of squandering an opportunity there. I still expect them to take Ingram though. We're all speculating because a) we're bored, b) we have limited knowledge of the process and c) the Lakers are working out everyone under the sun. That's okay though. I like that they know as much about all these players as they can learn. It's not like working out Buddy twice means we're in love with him by the way. We've worked out Henry Ellenson twice too but we're definitely not picking him at #2.
The annoying aspect to me that these rumor/click bate whores don't account for (and I get why, it's not as interesting of a story and doesn't generate buzz) is the fact that good scouting departments use this as a time to build profiles for prospects for down the road -- whether it's FA or a trade opportunity 2-5 years from now. Why not get to know as much about as many players as you possibly can? You can't have open, honest conversations and probe these guys to this extent when they're in the NBA. That + how close to the vest Mitch plays it with the draft creates "journalism" madness.
this is a great point. something i personally hadn't thought about myself. you can never have too much info on players.
Yea i dont see brown or skal being better than russell....i see both as really great role players at best
Jae Crowder and the #3 pick for Ingram? I wouldn't, but if the FO really thinks Hield will be better, it could be an option.
Coming from the guy who said he's Miller not surprising. LMAO @ Bender and Skal being better. Are you serious bro? You're about as credible as Skip. It's not that hard to comprehend unless you have low IQ. Russell was #2 in a great draft he's easily a better prospect right now.
I agree with @therealdeal . Please bring the knowledge while keeping things respectful. (that's 2/5 tags from our bet)
Article on why Ingram is a perfect fit for us http://m.bleacherreport.com/article...be-perfect-weapon-for-la-lakers-in-modern-nba
So because I don't think Russell is gods gift to laker fans I have a low IQ? Get real guy. Get off his D. Ingram and simmons have WAY more potential than your obsession dangelo the snitch. And speaking of credibility, youre the guy that thinks he'd go number 1 in this draft. LMFAO How old are you bud?
Let's not talk to one another like that. He's already gotten a warning for it. Let's keep the discussion civil and get back to just debating eachother's points.
No. I'm fine with the DRuss pick (like I have much of a choice), but I still think a 7 footer with those mitts was the easy choice. Okafor should've gone before DRuss IMO, but it is what it is. This draft, he'd go 3rd like @trodgers said. IMO, I want Ingram WAY before Simmons. I'm highly disappointed if we don't get Ingram.
Last year, I was on the okafor wagon too. But in THIS draft, where would you take russell? I also prefer ingram over simmons.
