Potentially. It seemed serious with Okafor last year, too. They had Bertka out there and some of the other names you mentioned. We might end up with Ingram, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear how close Hield was to getting drafted after the draft is over.
Bertka is there for a lot of workouts though, but I agree with you we'll know a lot more come Thursday night or Friday whenever Mitch holds the press conference.
That's why I love them. Would they anger a lot of fans, no question. But you can't be afraid in this business to take "BIG" shots.
Sure you can when it doesn't make any f***ing sense. Hield will be a good player, but he doesn't have superstar written all over him like Ingram. Taking him makes no sense even if you trade down.

Yep. Seems like a really heady kid. I'm not taking him over Ingram, but he definitely is an interesting prospect. I have some fear he'll be OJ Mayo, but he could definitely be JJ Redick.
Because they might be able to get a package of players they prefer and a high pick in the draft for #2 which makes plenty of sense.
haha I remember when you and I went back and forth on the OJ Mayo part. I still completely disagree with the OJ Mayo comparison. When has OJ Mayo ever sounded and responded like that to those type of questions Buddy just answered in that article? I don't think OJ ever showed the type of calm, collected workman type attitude that Buddy has shown. We'll just agree to disagree on that. The JJ Redick comparison is a lot more on point. Both players are very professional in how they take care of their business on and off the court. I still believe that Buddy's ceiling is higher they JJ's because in my opinion he has more athleticism up to this point.
I think it's foolish. Two sure fire perennial all-stars in this draft. Take the one who falls to you.
It would take a hell of a deal to get me excited about Hield. We would have to get a very good player and pick 4-8 or so for me to not be pissed. But there is no way in hell you draft him at 2, especially since we already have JC, Russ, and Lou, we are set at SG. We desperately need SFs, so either you trade for one and then take Hield down the board, or you don't get cute and take Ingram or Simmons. Nobody is taking Hield at 2, we'd be morons to do it when we could get him later and take someone very good from some other team in the process. I'd also have to think we could get better for the #2 pick than just a good player and pick 4-8, if we really wanted to trade it we could look to do it for an all-star caliber player.
I said I'm afraid he could be Mayo: a slightly undersized SG with a shooter's reputation that struggles to create at the next level. It's still possible, but the more I hear from him the more I think he'll be alright in the NBA. He seems like a solid role player type.
Just a side note, but we actually cannot trade the pick. We will pick either who we want or who is most valuable to a trade partner. Who we pick may not be who we end up with. BUT, any trade can't take place until after the selection. Just throwing that out there.
