I don't want that clown/man-child influencing our young players. No doubt he still is valuable to certain teams that use him right, and if you don't have to pay max, but I don't want him anywhere near our young guys.

f*** no. And he's a loser and a clown. He has destroyed chemistry in the last two places he's been.

If I were Cleveland, I'd offer him $8-10m a year, and they'd probably win a championship.

See, that's scary, I agree. But he'd never put his ego aside, take half his max and be 3rd best player to win a title. He'd take max on any team to "have fun" because he's already a champion in his own mind, that's his problem.

First time Kobe visits our locker room or training facility, Dwight shats his pants :giggle:. After his last two stints i would NEVER EVER sign that r*****.

I don't want Howard for the sole reason that I am tired of clanking FTs

you mean on-court chemistry? i agree there, but off the court, he's been pretty good since he left la. he was a nightmare in that regard here, which is why i don't want him at any price. but man, in houston it's clear to me that there's one problem--he just happens to be the guy to whom they've pinned the hopes of the franchise.

i think given what i know about walton's intentions, my #1 target at c is noah. if you can get him while everyone is chasing whiteside, biyombo, and howard, you might even get a reasonable deal (15 per?). selling him on the youth movement might be difficult, though.

I like the Ingram plan, still leaves a pretty decent bench too.

I've been trying to recruit people to the Noah bandwagon. A few years ago he's 100% the perfect fit for this team. Now he's still nearly perfect, but his injuries scare me.

I'm guessing it takes a bunch of money to get him here though given our situation. A number we're going to cringe at but will end up being worth it for us. Something like 4/65 million might get it done. He might prefer something like 2+1/60 million though.

marvin williams and noah are both high my list in terms of fit. both are vets who are good locker room guys and play hard. neither is likely to impede development of any of the young guys. williams can play some 3 and 4, which is useful given the current roster. i think landing just those two would be a pretty good, realistic offseason. the rest of the cap space could be used in salary absorption deals like hibbert and lin to fill out the weak spots (backup c, backup wing, 3rd string pg).

i'm sure the medical staff will get a say. i'd gamble, though. if he's healthy, he's exactly what the team needs at center. as for your options, given how much money the lakers have to spend, i'd opt for more cash for a shorter term deal. if he ends up being done, you could be rid of the contract as russell/randle/ingram/clarkson enter their primes.

Same. Depending on exactly how cool our FA market is, I'd be willing to max him out for a couple years. Let him prove he's worth a long-term contract somewhere more competitive or even stick around if he's up for it and we show some legitimate growth.

What kinds of major injuries has he had? Are they of the sort that make them likely to continue to be problems, like knees?

A lot of bad injuries are just pure bad luck. Like Bogut coming down and landing and then having the other large opponent roll back into his knee and hyper extend it. Like happened to Bynum. And earlier in Bogut's career him taking a mid air fall and horribly jacking up his arm.

A couple shoulder injuries and some knee issues. It's hard to say if they're chronic or not, but he's missed a lot of time recently. Hopefully he takes the summer to redevelop his kinetic chain.

He needs to redevelop his kinetic chain but I don't think he has. A lot of his problems probably stem from older injuries.

I think we all expected him to opt out.
