At least last year Towns worked out for Minny and only Minny, correct me if I'm wrong. Do not like Simmons stance of not working out for anyone.

Simmons is not working out because he was told by Philly (and im 110% sure of that), that he goes first no matter what.

Yes but thats bad journalism. They hear Thursday workout for the Lakers and have no idea it was the week before.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I recall reading that Towns actually did work out for us in secret. The media just never knew about it to report it.

It's probably just because I'm a pessimist and an Ingram fan, but I just have a feeling Philly is going to shock everyone and take Ingram away from us.

i'll preface this with the fact that i really want ingram or simmons and think drafting otherwise is borderline crazy, but...

anyone think hield's going to make people realllly sorry for passing on him? he's not really undersized for his position, he's got an insane work ethic, and he keeps improving. the idea that he won't get better from here is silly to me, and it also ignores that he's way ahead of pretty much everyone else in the draft class already in terms of being ready to impact games at the next level. i've heard jodie meeks comps, but i don't see that. i see something more like michael redd, pre-knee injuries.

Nah man, he'll be there for us at the 2 spot. Question is, will Mitch and Jim take him? ;)

Yes. Simmons knows he's not going to move past the Lakers, so who cares? He may give one workout if the Sixers call his people and threaten to go with Ingram, but that's it. Simmons doesn't need to workout with anyone his value is already set.

We're getting either Simmons or Ingram and that's a great thing for us.

So you are certain the Lakers would take him without him even consenting to a workout? Seems really arrogant considering he hasn't shown he can shoot the ball yet and we already have Randle trying to get over that hump. Not natural pure shooters like Ingram. With Colangelo in the fold at Philly I don't see the certainty like Kenso that they take Simmons.

The thing is, Ingram and Simmons are already at or almost at what Hield can produce, at 4 years younger.

It's not to say Hield wouldn't improve or become a solid player, but teams in our position are looking for players who can turn a franchise around in the long run.

If Ben Simmons is available, you have to pick him. You don't not draft potentially the best player in the draft because he refused to work out. If the lakers front office isn't that enamored with Simmons, then they can trade him and would probably yield a better return than a Jamal Murray or a buddy hield.

Not sure if this belongs here, but there is no specific thread for draft only. Since there are international guys, maybe we change the name of the thread to Draft 2016?

If you're Simmons, why would you work out for any teams? Just like Towns last year, if you're universally viewed as the top talent in the draft, what do you have to gain by working out? You could have an off day and your already-suspect J is just off, or God forbid, you could get injured.

Simmons has a talent ceiling that's viewed by some as close to a young LeBron (though not quite up to that level). His "red flags" are all mostly mental. A workout wouldn't alleviate those anyway. He & his camp are doing the right thing. Worst case for him is falling to the Lakers at #2, and I'm sure he'd be psyched to be in LA with his high school buddy D'Angelo.

It's not really arrogant because it's a business decision. All he does by working out is hurt his value potentially. What point is there to it? The Sixers like him already. I'm guessing they've told him he's their guy unless something crazy comes up in workouts. No point in working out. I don't think it necessarily is a reflection on him. There were similar concerns with Towns last summer.
