Sounds like a terrible deal to me. Hayward and Favors are nice players, but Russell has the potential to be a SUPERSTAR as does the #2 pick. You don't trade two great pieces for just solid players.

Not sure I agree either. Good deal for them though.

    Absolutely not.

Heyward is a nice player and Favors is still young and has size, but I wouldn't trade DRuss for them by himself, let alone a potential stud with the #2 pick.

I'm all for trading D-Russ (don't believe he'll be a superstar) but when I saw that trade, I wanted to shoot the writer (and this guy was SOOOO pro-C Bags it was disgusting). There's effing way I woudl give up Russell for guys like Hayward and Favors....and then he wants us to throw in the #2 pick as welll?! Our #2 pick will only be dealt for a guy like Butler, Cousins or George. It will NOT be dealt for guys like Hayward and Favors. Jesus!!!

Hayward is a FA next summer. If you want him, go get him. No need to trade half our young talent for middling players who haven't made an All-Star game yet. I was in favor of maybe the #3 for Hayward straight up, but I'm not in favor of #2 for Hayward at this point and I'm certainly not trading both the pick AND Russell for those two.

Why not just throw in Randle for good measure as well, just so it's fair.

Hate to pile on but that trade sounds awful and would be the last nail in Jim and Mitch's coffin.

lol. the laker hating press is precious. if the lakers had two non-allstars on big deals that they were offering to utah for last year's promising #2 pick and this year's #2 pick, the author of the article would be nationally ridiculed via espn nerd tweet snark.

what's next? gallinari and faried for randle and the #2, plus naming rights to first born child?

That sounds like one of those trades desperate Laker fans were throwing around back in 2006. Ingram and Russell for Hayward and Favors? I know us Laker fans have a tendency to overrate our players, but c'mon. If you made it Hayward and Gobert I might listen to you before hanging up. I think Russell will be a star and Ingram could be a borderline superstar. And we trade them for a role player (Favors) and a 3rd tier star?

Did you guys see the Jimmy Butler and Paul George trade proposals that this guy put out? I wanted to punch this guy SOOO Hard in the face for actually thinking the Bulls or Pacers would entertain those deals.

It was Jimmy Butler for #3, #16, Terry Rozier, Jonas Jerebo and Avery Bradley. Why in the blue hell would the Bulls take that deal?!?! None of those players are going to be stars and the #3 pick isn't going to net you one in this draft.

The other was Paul George for Jusuf Nurkic, Wilson Chandler, #7 pick, #15 pick, Will Barton, and Memphis top 5-protected 2017 first round pick. Again....NONE of these players will be stars...all role players....and Memphis is likely to retain Conley and they still have Randolph and Gasol, so that 2017 first round pick will more than likely be a late lotto pick or a late first round pick. The guy was seriously trying to hype Chandler and Barton....I nearly puked reading this article.

Then this idiot writer went on to talk about how AFTER the C Bags get Butler, they can go and sign Horford....I mean Boston will literally have to give up 2 more picks for that deal to make any sense. They need to give up those unprotected firsts that Brooklyn gave them. Get outta here with that #3 pick!

Apparently Noah and Gasol are pretty much confirmed to bolt from Chicago this off-season. If hypothetically Butler decided he also wanted to leave and demanded a trade, I think those two packages are actually pretty realistic.

I think George is a tier above Butler. Indiana probably hangs up if those are offered for George. But if Butler demands a trade and Boston/Denver called Chicago with those offers, Chicago would definitely listen. Angry second-tier stars never net stars in return. It's always packages full of young assets and picks. I think you're underrating Bradley and Nurkic.

The Butler deal is actually pretty fair. I don't even think the George deal is that bad. When trading a proven star, you almost never get fair value in return. The key is to acquire assets you can either develop or flip for a different star/future star player.
