Kind of has the Hollywood head already (Simmons) but I'm sure we could tolerate that if was him we get. Kardashian women fighting each other for him as well.
DraftExpress has made some major changes to the their mock draft. Simmons and Ingram are still the top two, but Marquese Chriss is now third, then Bender, Dunn, Hield, Brown, Murray, and Poetl in that order. Ellenson has plummeted to 15th even though the Lakers had interviewed him at one point for the Top 3 pick. Simmons has said he hasn't scheduled a workout with either the Sixers or Lakers. He's viewed right now as an absolute lock for the #1 pick. Hield had a workout recently that DE was raving about. I'll post a link to it.
Ingram is rail thin. I love his upside, though. Seems that most of his work will mostly be done off the ball; moving, cutting, setting screens and performing those types of actions. I'd imagine the player development staff will work refine his shooting, working on his ball-handling, etc.
This is what I hate about the draft. The fact that you number one have to wait a damn month before we find out which one of these kids will be wearing purple and gold and that seemingly every season you have 5-10 guys moving up and down right around our draft position. Also about Simmons what is the harm in working out for the Lakers or Sixers? I know KAT did it last season and it's not that big of deal, but it just don't see the harm in it unless you plan on tanking the workout so you can fall.
Just because he hasn't scheduled one yet doesn't mean he won't. If I remember correctly, KAT hadn't scheduled one yet either last season.
There's nothing to gain by Simmons working out individually for a team. He's the presumptive #1 pick and the only thing he can do is accidentally hurt his value with one or two bad workouts (hello Okafor). That doesn't mean he won't do it, but that's the logic behind not working out.
i've loved hield for quite some time now. if the lakers had #3, he'd certainly be it. and he's a "can't miss", imo. that's an nba player, period. choosing between him and a bender type would be very difficult. i view ingram's upside as too big to pass up, though. and his downside isn't bust, so he's still my pick. i'm actually a bit surprised that simmons is still he presumptive #1. then again, my d****** wasn't sure last june that towns was head and shoulders above okafor...and he most certainly was.
Hield or Brown would be my choice at #3 as well. (Well, if we couldn't trade it). Hield is a very nice compliment to Russell. It moves Clarkson to the bench which I think is the right place for him. But at #2, Ingram is the choice. And I agree that Simmons being such a lock for #1 is a little surprising. I think I'd take Simmons if we were at #1, despite the "fit" issues with Randle, but I'm not near as sold on that choice as I was a month ago. I have been watching a lot of film on both. It's not that I think Simmons is not as advertised. It's that Ingram is better than I realized. Ingram is certainly a much better fit for this team personnel wise and for the system we assume Luke is going to implement. But I really like Hield as well.
Those measurables on Simmons are just out of this world. He's got insane quickness for a kid his size. He's taller, faster, and quicker than Julius. In fact he's a little faster and quicker than Jordan who is a fantastic athlete. I think that's what people see and they say "okay we can turn that kind of athlete into something special". He's also got terrific feel and vision. This is however one of those situations where no matter how talented a kid is, I expect him to show regression in Philly. That place until proven otherwise is a cesspool.
What's the over under on how many weeks before Simmons is duking it out on the streets of Philly or trashing rental houses?
Thanks for sharing, impressive indeed, but I am really surprised his step vertical isn't better than 33" 1 while all the other players were better than that.
What's the benefit? He is a LOCK to be either first and make 500 K more money, or be second and play for the Lakers...there is nothing to gain here. If he sucks in the work out, he might even fall because as a number 1 prospect there is only one way...down. He also has to break his work out routine for a few days, get tired travelling, could get hurt etc. There just isn't any benefit to work out when you are a lock.
Who has Simmons being a lock? There have been people I've seen who don't have him going #1. Yes the majority have him going #1, but I don't see how he's considered a lock when there's still plenty who think Ingram should be #1. I don't see the harm in doing the workout.
Like I said earlier in the thread: he's the presumptive #1 pick. What reason would he have for doing the workout? Towns didn't do workouts either. The only thing you can do is accidentally hurt your stock. Here's a bunch of the more popular mock drafts: http://hoopshype.com/2016/06/01/nba-mock-draft-2016/ http://www.basketballinsiders.com/2016-nba-mock-draft-consensus-ver-4-0/ http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2016/ http://www.nbadraft.net/2016mock_draft http://www.forbes.com/sites/michael...aft-board-before-the-nba-finals/#72d836e0523a I'm sure there's some who have Ingram, but the most connected ones have Simmons first and Ingram second. There's just no point in doing workouts. It's possible he does them anyway if he wants to be that competitive guy and show off what he has to offer. There's a chance he still does it, but it's probably more likely that he makes people come to him for a workout in his comfort zone like Towns did last year. If you took the SATs and got a 1550/1600 why would you take it again? It's not worth the money, your score was already great. It's more likely you do worse the second time around, so why bother?
