Same. I'm not necessarily attached to any one player although I'd love to see certain combinations. I am very attached to signing somebody though. We need to get somebody.

anthony carter's opt out is one. that was some bs. basically his agent "forgot" to take his option, giving the heat the cap space necessary to chase bigger name FAs that would not have been available. i think it was like 4 million. big chunk of change back then, too. this enabled them to essentially double bid on elton brand and lamar odom (akin to what i'm suggesting we do to them). i always thought the udonis haslem deal was shady, too. denver and dallas had publicly offered him more money. i've heard the loyalty angle...i'm not buying it. i think he was either given or promised something. as recently as last year, i believe udrih made some odd decision which cost him money and helped miami (without really helping himself), too.

i also think it's sort of preposterous that he wasn't involved in the big three fiasco well ahead of time.

i just think riles is dirty. when minnesota pulled crap like this, they got penalized. people have just kinda thrown their hands up and looked the other way for riley.

i just want to force his hand. they're legit competitors on the FA market. don't let them lock up their guys for less than market value. set their market value yourself. the lakers have enough cash to make them uncomfortable.

you're right, wade's not leaving--but you don't have to let him stay for 12 per. and you have to make them think about offering low on whiteside.

btw, same with derozan. i think toronto taking a non-max stance is moronic. you're toronto. at least miami is a destination; it has a history of attracting FAs and trade demands. the only trade demands in toronto are out.

He is getting the max from Miami. Let us recollect before heading into last year's free agency; the rumor was Riley was going to offer Dragic less than the max? It didn't happen. He paid Dragic, and he will gladly pay Whiteside.

They have some options this summer as well. They have to figure out what to do with Bosh and his contract. I also think if they need more salary cap room, they could potentially look to move Dragic, IMO. I think his talents are being under utlized playing next to a ball dominant SG.

I really don't care anymore. I've been wanting to get Whiteside, but doesn't look in the cards anymore. Neither does DeRozan. That's fine. We still have Russell, Randle, Clarkson, Nance Jr, and either Ingram, Simmons, or Bender. We're good.

well, you should care *some*. because simply adding a rookie to this mix (no impact veteran FAs) means another win total in the teens or 20s.

not saying it has to be derozan or whiteside. but it can't be another lin/hibbert offseason.

Living down here there have just been so many stories about the Heat not being happy with him overall that it just gives me pause. Got a couple of solid media sources down in South Beach and while they think Riley will uktimately cave and resign him they wouldnt be shocked at all if he leaves either. Riley is a guy who can smooth over hurt feelings and athletes love the Miami life but folks believe the door is cracked open for a team like us to try and swoop in and grab him. Take that for what its worth.

The biggest things for me this offseason were getting rid of Byron, hiring a good replacement, and keeping the pick. We have accomplished all three. Getting free agents to come to a 17 win team was always going to be a tough sell in my eyes so I have been prepared for us to have a tough time getting guys to come here.

I expect us to do better than The last few years but I am mentally prepared for us to miss out on big name guys this summer.

It's a good point on Dragic, but it's also a bad one. Maybe he learns the lesson from that move? Dragic is a decent starting PG and helps their team, but he's overpaid at this point. I think it was really an insurance move in case Wade's steroids didn't keep him healthy enough, but for now it's a problem while Wade slowly fades.

As for Bosh, there's not much they can do. Since he wasn't officially career threatened until late in the season, they can't apply for medical retirement until a year after the doctors said he would have to retire. I suppose they could try to waive him and stretch his contract, but I'm not sure exactly how much savings they could make on a 79 million dollar deal with 3 years left on it. They could try to trade him somewhere, but it'd be a 100% salary dump and they'd have to probably give up a pick or two for someone to take that on. The Lakers might go for that if Miami feels like that's the route they want to go.

They're going to have to do a lot of juggling to max Whiteside, keep Deng at the market value, AND pay Wade the amount Wade is going to want. Since that's true, I hope we can scoop one of Whiteside or Deng.

Of course we're going all in on Durant; LOL. Who would have thought? Either way, let's move quickly. We need talent on this team in a very bad way this summer. I'm definitely excited, though.

At least this year we can go after Durant in addition to other players. We don't necessarily have to wait around to keep the cap space open as we a lot of money.

Durant would be a fool not to take the 1+1 in my opinion. Why not? Your team is good enough to bet one more season on. They were up 3-1 on the 73-9 defending champs! Give them one more shot and if they are worse in 2016, then take your incredibly massive payday somewhere else.

    4/129 million this summer or
    4/155 million next summer

He's getting one of those contracts.

And if the Warriors go after him, I hope we scoop up guys like Iggy and Bogut who they'll have to trade.

edit** apparently I used the wrong number initially for the second estimate, but it's still a significant amount.
