"I think a lot of these young, talented kids are just rated on their pure length and athleticism but really no basketball IQ, really no footwork, really can't shoot the ball so you know, when they look at a guy and say, "He has potential. He's fast, has long arms, and can jump." and then he gets out there and can't throw a rock in the ocean. He can't run a play or his basketball IQ is low. I think those things sometimes get overrated. A lot of kids get drafted just based on that"

He literally just described Wesley Johnson.

I really LOL'd at the POS comment. I'm not a Paul fan, but he has really changed his game and clearly plays an old man game - and he has to. So it's nice to see him recognizing that what Kobe's doing is not only unusual; it's amazing. Well said, PP.

It's Ray Allen who hates (jealous of) Kobe. PP works out with Kobe in their earlier years so the respect is there. Even if he is a C Bags douche

Wise words from PP, which is a shock. Almost feels wrong even admitting that.

Being traded from the C Bags and hitting the brick wall called father time really humbled him. So much that he is giving Kobe his props for playing so well at his current age/longevity. I appreciate his comments toward my favorite player but I still hate him.

Wheelchair speaks the truth.. you know you're the G.O.A.T. when your greatest rival has to defend you. Pretty sad entire sports network (s) love to slam Kobe.. yet his own on court rivals respect him and are able to appreciate him.

I thought I was gonna read something entirely different, but I'm pleasantly surprised. This was cool to read, especially from a former long time C bag (gag). I guess it's the generation respect.

I don't like Paul Pierce and I'll never like Paul Pierce... the person, that is. I will always hate the wheelchair act, and he tends to be very stupid... but that's actually outside basketball.

Talking purely about basketball, Paul Pierce is a fundamentally sound player, a definite Hall of Famer, a veteran with a lot of miles, a clutch player and a guy with high basketball IQ (which is, of course, directly related to the previous things). Besides Kobe, I don't think there is a player with a bigger arsenal of offensive moves than Paul Pierce.

Where I want to get with that is that Paul knows the game better most players, so he actually has a better grasp than any of us here about how hard is to do what Kobe's doing. As a baller who understands that, I think it must be hard not to admire Kobe.
