That's insane. I agree. We're getting so deep at some spots, we're going to have to cut loose some promising talent.
...ah, bad combo methinks. $$$ for the suds goes elsewhere? Have a cousin lives there that can get me tickets so I am not against it either even if I find the move wrong. Sin City Raiders sound so right though. Raider Strange Trivia: CB Skip Thomas would check himself into a hospital after every home game even if there is nothing wrong. Reason? Free bed, free food and he claims to play strip poker with the nurses. Madden and Oakland OK'd it. Simultaneous LOL and eye rolling...
Just out of curiosity what are your guys expectations for the Raiders? Didn't get to watch their games last season, but they seemed to take a big step. They have a terrific young core with Carr, Cooper, and Mack. The latter has the potential to be one of the great defensive players ever. Still can't believe the Texans passed on him. They could've had Watt and Khalil. Anyways I would assume a division title? That thing is up for grabs. Denver lost some key players on defense and they have Butt Fumble under center. Think it would be good for the NFL for Oakland to be good again.
Division title or maybe the Chiefs take it, but the Raiders make the playoffs. 9 or 10 wins. I would love a playoff game win.
Cautiously optimistic at 10-6...maybe wild card entry. Chiefs will take the division as they are more together. Weaker strength of schedule compared to previous seasons but 5 of first 8 games on the road. Offense looks potent while defense looks upgraded on paper though safeties are a question mark. Can't discount Denver with that defense even if they did take losses on personnel.
No Raider news of note except third round pick Calhoun is still unsigned something to do with the complexities of where he was picked. S Dashon Goldson wants to retire on the West Coast as a Ram...or a Raider. Raider Story: John Madden once asked LB Ted Hendricks of what he thought of signing DL John "The Tooz" Matuszak... The latter replied: "Look around you, John [obviously referring to the team}. So what's one more?" LOL!
...watched NFL Top 10 Collapses last night. One of them was the 1986 Los Angeles Raiders team. Started off 0-3 then surged to 8-4 lost 4 straight to miss the playoffs. One of the four was to the Eagles where they were driving for the winning score until a costly Allen fumble. Against Kansas City in Week 15, Allen fumbled away two of the three first possessions leading to Chief scores. Confidence lost...last gasp bid ended against the Colts. In retrospect, that season likely was the start of the Davis-Allen feud. It also ended Plunkett's career who retired having had enough. Raider story: Concerned with his health, DL Charles Philyaw was asked by the coaches to see the doctor. He followed up seeking teammate CB Skip "Dr. Death" Thomas instead who predictably dismissed him. Man, such characters the team had then...
...still the most versatile back I ever saw play. Run, catch, block, throw the occasional touchdown pass... Did not have a whole lot of stuff on either like Eric D**kerson [asterisks to save the system trouble]. Speaking of Allen...saw some blurb that he, Tuck [?] and Lott are leading some investment group to renovate the O.com Coliseum? Did not click on the link so not up to the details.
No question: Marcus is my favorite player of all time. I was #32 for much of my career, and I patterned my game on his. Tried to be able to throw, to run, to receive, and to block. He was an awesome RB.
...first watched Allen play as a fullback, blocked for Charles White who was a good player but not THAT good. Reading raves about this DeAndre Washington. Clips of him remind me of Ray Rice. I really wanted Paul Perkins to be honest.
NFL's Top 100 of 2016 [players vote] #100 Derek Carr -No Khalil Mack sighting yet... -Amari Cooper mentioned but I doubt he gets in... Raider Story: LB Monte Johnson's nickname was "Fog" because he could not remember teammates' and coaches names.
- Gabe Jackson switching to Right Guard so Olemele can man the Left. - Brian Hartline? Slot wide-out... More polished than Roberts. Was killing it in with The Fins for awhile then went to Cleveland.
We just cut loose Herron, a WR we brought in for an audition. Anyone up for seeing about a one year deal for Boldin? Cooper, Boldin, and Crabtree would give Carr arguably the best trio of WRs, all things considered, in the NFL.
Boldin would be a good addition...but has he ever played slot? He'd be a great veteran presence to keep the crew focused and on an even keel.
