If this doesn't get you fired up, I'm not sure what will.

Too young. 10mins PT in Europe the past season. I will choke Mitch in my dreams if he again gets cute. Just trade the pick if he doesn't want to draft a player from Duke.

I actually don't think he got cute last year. I think we drafted the better player. I think under Walton that is going to be more and more clear.

This go round, I don't see a player like Russell or even Porzingis who might take out one of the top two players. Simmons and Ingram are clearly ahead of the pack. I still think Simmons is the top guy, but Ingram is also going to be a solid pro and looks like the better fit for us.

The franchise has a lot riding on these picks. I think they will get it right again.

I sound like I'm advocating for him, which I'm not, but everyone I've read interviews of says his playing time had nothign to do with his talent level. They said he just wouldn't get much playing time because European teams don't play young guys.

Wow. That wasn't impressive at all to me. Slow release on his shot. Looks like he has a long way to go. Pass

@therealdeal how much weight do you think Ingram can put on his frame?

I don't know who makes that video. I've seen a few of them, but I don't know how trust worthy of a source they are compared to say DraftExpress who has now partnered with Woj at the Vertical. Here's a link to their take on the kid from February. It's incredible in depth and covers both his strengths and weaknesses.

    https://sports.yahoo.com/news/european-dispatch--getting-to-know-dragan-bender-195451386.html

He's definitely a project which is why I don't want him as much, but he's got clear talent as well. When he fills out a little bit, he can be a good player. How long are teams willing to wait? Porzingis likely gives this kid a boost he might not actually deserve this season. I have a feeling he's going to end up looking a lot like Skal Labissiere who is slotted to go in the 6-12 range.

Well he said he put 20 pounds on between high school and college.

He's got decently wide shoulders, but the length of his limbs is going to make it difficult to build muscle the way people typically think about. He's never going to look like Derek Fisher or Carlos Boozer.

Since his body type is so similar, Durant is now listed at 240 pounds after coming into the NBA at 215 pounds. Ingram is even lighter at 196 pounds. I don't see any reason why he also couldn't put on 20-30 pounds mostly because his legs are so thin. You can add a ton of weight to your lower body when you're building up your butt and legs. This summer I'd have him working a lot on his shoulders, core, and legs just like D'Angelo. Got to get that weight in his butt.

Honestly, who cares if Ingram can put the weight on soon. We're not in a position to do any true damage with the roster we have. If it takes until year 3 to see significant weight and muscle gain, so be it. Experience outweighs that portion in the first couple years. Pun intended.

This is exactly my concern. The Porzingis factor. And let's also not ignore, Porzingis came out of the gates on fire, but he came back down to Earth a bit. I honestly think (well, at least I PRAY) that the Mitch talk about Bender is before we realized we'd have a shot at the top 2 guys. Bender and scouting Bender was likely due diligence for us if we retained our pick, but it fell to #3. Taking Bender over Ingram isn't "trying to get cute." It's just idiotic. It is not in any way the same thing as Russell over Okafor. There were A LOT of people before the draft saying we should take Russell. That didn't come out of nowhere, and I think we got the better player. NO ONE is saying we should take Bender. This isn't like last year when there was a drop-off after #1 into a pool of 4-5 guys. This year it's a significant drop-off after the top two guys into a pool of 8-9 guys.

We have an enormous need for a sf who can defend and hit from 3....which is EXACTLY what Ingram can do. Bender can't play center. He's built like Groot. So we draft a power forward when we have two other young power forwards? I really don't see Mitch doing anything but taking Ingram. If he doesn't, I would give up on this team. No joke. It would take all the goodwill they have built with the firing of Byron, the hiring of Luke and keeping our pick and flush it down the toilet because I would know they have zero clue as to what they are doing.

    Who said soon? :D

I think this summer he can probably put on another 15-20 pounds, but that weight will evaporate as the season goes on kind of like D'Angelo did last summer. Basketball is the opposite of muscle building so you tend to lose the gains you make fairly quickly. He won't keep that weight on for a few years, but definitely he's got to hit the squat rack this summer and put some meat on those bones.

Yea if the pick is anything other than Simmons, Ingram or trade for a top superstar player, I'll be going to Verizon the next day for a new phone. As Savory said, Ingram is an elite prospect at a position of need with skills we desperately lack. We should be sprinting up to the podium to say his name before basketball reasons makes another appearance.

I agree. People want to use the Porzingis comp, but chances are he is more likely to be Bargnani. If we were picking 3, and Mitch took him, I'd still be upset, but at least I could think that MAYBE Mitch saw something in him that was better than Jaylen Brown or Dunn (since we have a couple guards already). But if Ingram or Simmons is sitting on the table, and he takes Bender, I would actually think that maybe Mitch and Jim are sabotaging us because they know they aren't going to make Jim's self imposed timeline.
