Trade the No. 2 pick, Nick Young and one of the young triumvirate to Indy for PG12.
Sign Horford and DD, resign Bass, Huertas, JC, Hibbert...

Now that we have #2 pick, my realistic prediction is:

    Draft Ingram #2
    Draft Chinanu Onuaku #32
    Sign Courtney Lee to 3/21
Sign Biyombo to 4/80 (team option after yr 2)
    Resign Clarkson to 4/40
    Resign Black to 2/9
Pick up Derrick Rose in a dump

    Biyombo/Black/Onuaku
    Randle/Nance/Black
    Ingram/Lee/Swaggy P
    Rose/Clarkson
    Russell/Lou

Pretty versatile lineup with the ability to sign two max free agents NEXT offseason.

DDR mostly plays the 2. So we can still draft ingram and sign ddr. Also, we can draft ingram and sign horford or whiteside. no need to trade.

I'm still fighting about that idea to trade the pick. But if so only for Jimmy Butler. As I don't want any part of Cousins and Paul George is not available for a reasonable price.

I don't know what it would cost but if it's #2 + something that doesn't include the young big three I'm all for it.

Sign Whiteside and DeRozan. Resign guys like Black and bring in some shooting.

    Whiteside/Black
    Randle/Nance
Butler/whatever/Swaggy P (who knows maybe Luke can get him out of his funk)
    DeRozan/Clarkson
    Russell/Lou
with some shooting. Not too bad.

Only worried about DeRozan and Butler and their shooting together. A pipe dream would still be #2, Clarkson, Nance for Paul George.

I think that #2 pick is going to put some pretty interesting options in Mitch's lap.

Cost controlled young talent is more than a premium right now. Mitch will probably hit this one out of the park...

#2 pick - Brandon Durant Ingram
    #32 pick - Thon Maker
Sign Demar Derozan - Max deal
Sign Hassan Whiteside - Max deal
    Sign Mario Chalmers - 2 year / 16 million (TO 2nd year)
    Sign Brandon Bass - 2 year / 18 million (TO 2nd year)
Stretch Nick Young 2.2 million over 5 years

    DAR (5.3) / Chalmers (8) / Huertas (1)
    JC (2.7 cap hold) / Lou (7)
    DDR (25) / Ingram (4.4) / Brown (1)
    Randle (3.3) / Nance (1.2)
    Whiteside (21) / Bass (9) / Maker (1)

    Total - 92 million

Looking how the cap is going up next year 16 million and the need to open up another max deal spot next year, I'd tell JC to go out and get that max offer sheet so that we can have his salary for 5.6 and 5.9 million in year 1 and year 2. It balloons in year 3 and 4 but we should have enough top players on the team if all goes to plan.

Next season with the 108 million salary cap

    DAR (5.6) / _____ / _____
    JC (5.9) / Lou (7)
    DDR (26) / Ingram (5) / Brown (1)
    Randle (4.1) / Nance (1.3)
    Whiteside (22) / ____ / Maker (1)

    Total - 81.1 million

Room for 1 max deal essentially depending on the tiers

I'm still liking a cheap pickup of David Lee to run the offense.

Yeah. If we go after Butler, I'm not sure we can go get DeRozan. DeRozan, Butler and Randle? Our offense would have no outside shooting. We'd be running our pick and rolls inside the restricted area under the basket. :D

Nope, in my predictions B0ron wouldn't have been fired and we would jade lost the pick.

Another addition to my bold prediction.

Lakers see what Boston wants, and potentially trades down and grabs Dagan Bender. 7'1" Croatian kid.

If Mitch can flip that spot for an additional asset or can ditch a contract like Nick's, this is his pick.

Max a center for 2-3 years to let him develop, and get your SF in FA. Much harder to find that special 7 footer.

    Book it

EDIT..... just saw the first post. Oops lol.

Anyway, I think we end up signing H-Barnes like Sirron says

I believe LA wants to trade the pick, but there are no suitors, and we draft Brandon Ingram.

The following FAs that sign depend on the center position... I think Ezeli is a big possibility bc of Luke obviously. IMO, if we somehow land Horford or Whiteside (don't count on it), it increases the appeal for subsequent FAs to come over. If we sign Ezeli I do not predict another big-time FA to sign with us.

I also like the idea of signing Chalmers. He should be cheap. I hate to admit it, but I'm valuing players who may have the capacity to parent (or "mentor") D'Angelo.

    Russell/Chalmers
    Clarkson/Inrgram
    Barnes/Ingram
    Randle/Nance
    Ezeli/Black?

I'd be a little surprised at this point given that we're almost assuredly drafting a SF.

I would throw a s***fit if that happened. We have a chance to get a franchise player at #2. If we are trading that pick, it better be for an already established franchise player. Even with all the inevitable pre-draft hype that ESPN and other outlets churn out, NOBODY is saying Bender is anywhere close to as good as Porzingis. Boston is going to go to Philly I think and try to snag Embiid or Okafor with that 3rd pick. And then Philly will draft another center.

I don't think that stops us from targeting Barnes. The Luke connection is obvious, and I don't think our FO would shy away from having a pair of 2-way players by July. A Barnes acquisition would allow us to focus the remaining cap resources on a big. And it would make said player's life easier as a rim protector too.

I also think Ingram will guard 2's this season, bc I don't think he currently has to body to exclusively take the 3 on opposing lineups, even if they're bench lineups.

EDIT: one more point. Ben Simmons slides to us, I think it increases the chance of H-Barnes coming even more. My main point being, I don't think Simmons is a shoe-in as a SF since his jump shot is weak. I think Simmons would play point-4 and unfortunately Randle would be the odd man out.

Signing Barnes, who is 23 years old, means Ingram is a bench player to start the year. I don't think he can guard NBA 2s regularly and it would be between Clarkson or Ingram starting... I don't mind Ingram coming off the bench, but Barnes is so young that Ingram wouldn't reach the starting lineup as a young player which I don't want to do. It's just a strange fit. If we sign say Luol Deng, that's a different story. Luol's career is on the downward slope and his decline can coincide with Ingram's rise. At this point if we poach someone from GS, Ezeli makes more sense.

That being said, I won't be upset if we sign Barnes. I don't know how he'd fit, but I wouldn't be upset either. We need talent more than anything.

Even though Barnes would be a very odd fit, I'd still rather sign him than Ezeli. Someone is going to overpay for that guy because he got playing time (not much mind you) on a historically good team. And I'm not talking a little overpay. I'd expect to overpay on almost anyone this summer until the cap sorts itself out. BUt it's going to be a criminal overpay like Jerome James.
