Ok, with Batum off the table I'm starting to cave on my anti-DeRozan stance. That sucks. And DD isn't even a SF, but who is left on the table? Barnes isn't going to happen because he's a RFA and Durant isn't going anywhere. Where are all the SF's?

They're non-existent. DeRozan is probably our best shot which is why I've been on board the whole time.

Batum not taking other meetings is plain stupid though. No surprise he's getting the max, but stupid business move not to see what else is out there. Oh well.

I'm with you. I honestly feel he's a pretty bad fit, but there's no denyIng he brings the best value to the table. So in terms of collecting assets (to trade later) Derozan's a front-runner by quite a margin.

Yeah, I really don't love DD's game. Basically he'd be most natural taking the Kobe role that we saw last year here - he'd be the volume shooter guy we'd be feeding for 20 shots a game with a shooting percentage just slightly higher, hovering around the 40% area. He doesn't fit what Luke wants to do. I don't think he makes us a whole lot better unless we also sign or draft a SF, he plays SG and Clarkson moves to the bench which is something he won't be happy about. I still don't think DD is a good fit for us at all. Ugh. BATUM you knucklehead!!

Some way to swing DD, Biyombo, and Deng? If so, sign me up.

Deng brings immediate production and vet presence so I like him but he's another stopgap measure and brings little to our long-term outlook imo.

Deng would be my #1 choice if we draft Ingram btw.

I like Deng a ton. I'd love him here. If we scooped him up as a solid veteran addition, I'd be pleased but he's not going to last more than 2-3 years. DeRozan could be here 8 years or so.

I doubt Deng would want to come to a rebuilding team

The volume shooter that DeRozan is, and has to be since he's certainly no deadeye ..... would have peeps here hating his guts after a few bad nights.... for the length of that maxed out contract. Starting to scare the crap out of me. Look at all the hate Lou got for actually playing his game quite well this year, because Boron so misused him. And in hindsight wishes he'd have misused him even more.

His FGA per 36 were 24th most in the NBA. Among players who shot more, he shot a higher FG% than 10 of them, worse than 10, and was on par (to .05) with 3. He's not a bad volume shooter. He's pretty average, and many of those volume shooters are All-Stars (16 of those who shot more frequently were A-Ss).

derozan actually reminds me a lot of wade. his midrange shot is ok, his long range shot is better left out, but he can get to the basket and to the line. you can build an offense involving this kind of player, and he'd fit just fine with russell. but having him, russell, clarkson, AND lou might be a bit problematic, given that the team has no starting c or sf. anyway, i take him and sort it out later.

and batum staying makes perfect sense to me. stating ahead of time that if charlotte offers max he'll stay also helps guarantee he gets the max. puts them in a tough spot if they were hoping to pay less, because then they're the bad guys if he walks. clever negotiating tactic, imo. plus, he's said over and over he likes it there. why leave for less money?

could end up being the same for derozan.

this is why, despite RFA status, i like taking a shot at barnes. he probably likes gs, but he could have a bigger role in la, and it is harder to justify his salary there given his current role. james harden-ish situation.

I believe his eFG% is the worst among the volume shooters because he has no outside shot. So he's probably an inefficient scorer by today's standards.

Is there any way to check how many offensive possesions he uses per game? I think he's up near the top in FTA's as well.

Wasn't Derozan quoted as saying he wanted to play in LA, or was that just another rumor by an "inside source?"

This actually doesn't bother me because it's now one less guy to strike out on the first week of July, and for me to get pissed about when I hear the report then while we sit and wait on Durant. Maybe if more guys have this attitude and make their decisions quickly we won't have time to screw around and will be quick to try and snatch up a player like DeRozan.

It was Stephen A Smith saying it. He said Derozan wants to be in LA, the star guy there, with family nearby all the time, etc.

He is one of the worst in that sense. His eFG is right there between Wade and Wall.
