If we're going to be a passing ball movement type of team with defense, then we need to go after Nicholas Batum. He's a great passer, great shooter and moves well without the ball, plus he competes on defense. That's my first choice of plan B if all the big names fail to join us

money. I don't think deng is quite ready to coat-tail ride. how about a pretty rich (15 per?) 3 year deal, with a team option or partial guarantee on the third year. see if a contender wants him badly enough to get near the number.

With Durant and Lebron likely to stay with their respective teams, I think Batum is considered to be one of the four "big name" wings this year, along with Barnes, Derozan and Parsons. None of them are perfect, but I wouldn't mind landing any of them.

yeah, any of those four would be a nice fit with the lakers current core. I like barnes the best because he's younger and a prototypical sf. ironically, derozan might be the best player (in a vacuum), but the worst fit. I really think he needs to play the 2, and while moving Clarkson to the bench long term makes sense, you'd still have a hole in the starting lineup.

but anyway, yes, the lakers would be glad to get any of them. one of those, plus a credible center, and the team could start getting down to the business of improving.

Like most of you I want Barnes. I agree he isn't worth max but good for him if he gets it. With Luke coaching I think it is critical we keep Black. Also with a good coach Lou will be an asset instead of a source of irritation.

Really don't want Parsons somehow. Always hurt and even when he is not he is not very good IMO

parsons' injuries are a definite concern, but when he's healthy, he's a good player. what I like about him is that he doesn't really have any weaknesses. he's not a superstar, but he can do anything but score in isolation on offense, and he's a credible defender. I think he just sort of fits almost anywhere, which is a nice thing.

that said, he'd be last on my list, and I might even consider a shorter term deal for deng ahead of a long term deal for parsons, simply because I'm not sure he can hold up.

He's still young but Barnes seems to have the LO/Boris Diaw syndrome ... a lot of talent but not the mentality to be consistent night in and night out .

Probably the only Warrior who hasn't stepped it up in Curry's absence

Yep it's important to not waste major cash on the Parsons , Noahs on the NBA .

Everybody knows they're going to get injured every season from now

    So what if....

Lakers do trade almost everyone for Paul George except Dlo, will we have enough money to sign 3 max to near max players?

Why wouldn't DeMar,KD, and Al Horford not join this team with dlo and pg13

    Similar to warriors bball

    Dlo
    Derozan
    Pg13
    Kd
    Horford

    That team would be unstoppable

Because we couldn't afford all three of those guys AND Paul George. :)

It's truly refreshing to see the "We are the Lakers, everything will work out in our favor, no matter how outlandish it seems" mentality hasn't been completely extinguished in the past 3-4 years. Blue skies are coming, folks.

Whenever a team has won in these playoffs it's been usually in large part because a player or two got hot from 3. See Lowry, Lillard, the Cavs, GSW. SA won some games with Aldridge dominating the post, but my point is that with Randle not having a jumper, id honestly be picky with FA talent and avoid guys like Derozen and maybe even Whiteside in favor of Barnes, deng and horford. And if Simmons is a beast in draft workouts, I might still take Ingram.

@Punk-101 I'm not sure I understand you correctly, but wouldn't Derozan qualify as the player most likely to get hot on any given night?

EDIT: never mind, I missed that "hot from 3" bit. And I agree that perimeter shooting should be one of our priorities.

Add to that, if we got the #1 pick and added Simmons, we would be abysmal from outside. Not just outside the 3 point line. We'd be abysmal from outside 18 feet. As for the 4 sfs, Batum is #1 on my list and then a significant gap until Barnes at #2. Wouldn't touch Parsons with a 10 foot pole. There's risk and then there's RISK. DeRozan has really turned me off in these playoffs.

Imagine Simmons, Randle and Derozan..... that would be spacing nightmare.

Not only spacing, but 3 players that need the ball, like to dribble and create their own offense.

Hell of a lot better than what we had last season.

It's a huge talent upgrade and that's what we need.
