I'm waiting for the twist where this is a parallel universe to the one with a real Superman and a real Batman that don't murder everyone and hold themselves to a higher standard.

There's multiple interviews with Snyder from as far back as 2008 where he shows exactly what an idiot he is and how his future vision of the DC universe is atrocious. He's obsessed with "dark" themes of murder, rape, and other horrible and deplorable acts of violence. It's why he can't make a real DC hero film that truly represents the characters.

Do people realize that Superman is supposed to be a symbol of hope and freedom? I mean if you never read a comic or watched the Donner Superman films (my wife) then THIS is the only Superman you've ever known... a mute who bullies people around the world. That's her idea of what Superman is...

How about a Batman that willingly murders people. A Batman that uses a gun to shoot people even though Batman hates traditional guns because they killed his parents. I mean what the hell kind of Batman is this? Nolan's Batman was dark and gritty enough, Snyder had to make him a complete psycho murderer without any of the skills that Batman actually has. He's not a detective, he's not a fighter, he's not a strategist of the highest order, he's not one of the world's leading intellects... At least none of that stuff is proven empirically in the movie. He can't figure out Superman's identity, he trains like Rocky IV, he has kryptonite bullets but chooses gas instead for no reason, and if he were so smart why couldn't he figure out all those other things? I mean it's just awful.

For those accepting this because it's "dark" and "intelligent" and "made for adults", it's not! It's just stupid and ill-conceived. Well maybe it's "dark" but that's only literally. It's not intelligent, it's unintelligible. It's an incoherent mixture of storylines woven so haphazardly that they hardly make any sense at all. It's not "made for adults". There's not even really adult themes besides murder. In fact, this is a Superman and Batman movie with millions of dollars worth of merchandise targeted towards kids. It's not adult themed just because kids can't understand what it is. It's just too slow for kids and too stupid for adults. It's just bad. The farther I get from the movie the more I loathe it.

Snyder is the worst thing that's ever happened to DC and Warner Brothers. How that hack is getting paid millions to bastardize this property is beyond me.

Deadpool, a totally secondary character (albeit with a nice little cult following), had his own movie that was Rated R (and it was a pretty hard R), and it outperformed (domestically) the two most iconic superheroes in history sharing the screen for the first time together. This isn't about doing a different take on these two characters. I get it if you want to change things up a bit from the comics, but they are essentially different characters all together that happen to be wearing the costumes of Superman and Batman. Snyder and Michael Bay are essentially on the same level at this point.

Actually to me Snyder is worse. Michael Bay may be all about explosions but at least the characters are truer to their source material. Like you said Superman and Batman are just stand-in lookalikes for a couple murder-y superheroes that Snyder wants to make movies about.

I don't mind a different tone. Again, like you said: Deadpool showed the world a different side of a superhero movie and it was fantastic. Not everything has to be Marvel's version, but make a good damn product. I cannot understand how WB is allowing Snyder to film Justice League. I can't figure it out. This version is so preposterously bad. Someone on another site I frequent said about Justice League:

"Can you imagine the marketing for Justice League? From the guys who brought you Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman!"

Oh I can just see the audiences lining up for that one...

Nah. They'll just say, "From the Visionary Director Who Brought You Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole"

Man, DC is going all in on Affleck right now:
    http://screenrant.com/justice-league-movie-ben-affleck-producer/

With new reports reporting conflict between Snyder and DC and after his failures in BvS I don't blame them for being less than thrilled with hitching their wagon to him long term. They were idiots for making him in charge of the universe to begin with. It's beginning to seem to me like they're trying to reduce his role to a figurehead and have Affleck do as much as he possibly can. He may see a RDJ type payday ($100m) with as many hats as they're wanting him to wear now. Their last hope is that Batfleck can be the hero DC doesn't deserve.

The best hope for the DC universe is to play into the idea of alternate dimensions. The movies they've given so far are a parallel universe where the heroes suck. Bring in the parallel universe where the heroes are actually what we want.

Putting Ben Affleck in a position of greater power is a good thing, but it's a band-aid on a bullet wound. Get rid of Snyder dammit and give us good movies please.

WB should hire the guys in charge of their animated universe, especially Paul Dini. Right now WB is clueless, Marvel has made low tier characters like AntMan more lovable than Superman at this point.

Whenever I want my DC fix I go to the animated side.

The Justice League animated show from the early 2000s is still my favorite.

News on DC's TV show front, Supergirl might get canceled due to low ratings and high production costs. Rumored that CW might pick it up but who knows.

Honestly not worth it. It has a CW story (love triangles and drama) with a better production value. It did get better as the season went on and they did introduce Martian Manhunter too so there's that.

Last Martian, afraid of fire, strength, flight, phasing. He is powered down though as is the superman in that universe.

I watch Supergirl, but it's cheesy as hell. I can't compare it to the DC shows on the CW though, because I've never seen one. They did have the Flash from that show in one episode and poke fun at the CW, kind of funny that it might move to that channel now. I hope it does, it ended on kind of a cliffhanger. I'll be honest though, half the reason I watch it is because I find Melissa Benoist to be really hot, a lot of the villains are horrible and over the top. I do really like the main cast though, Calista Flockhart is really good, as are the guys who play James Olsen and J'onn J'onzz (yes I had to look up how to spell that).

Yup, DC and WB likes to keep their movie universe separate from their TV universe.

We don't actually get to see him, we see like his shadow's or over his shoulder. And he and Supergirl occasionally chat via online messenger.

I too find a liking in Melissa Benoist, easy on the eyes on a bad show. I've read somewhere that either Supergirl joins CW or she get's a role similar to what they did with John Constantine. Canceled his show and he appeared on Arrow for an episode or two and get's named drop every so often. Or the actress might play Powergirl on Flash.

Wow. I knew they were separated from the movie universe, but I didn't know they already had their own Superman.

I was thinking something along the lines as this. I thought how can a franchise have better animated films then its live action ones. But I was also thinking about having the TV people have some input. They obviously know how tell good stories. I mean look at Smallville, (one of my favorite shows ever) that show lasted 10 seasons for a reason. Except for a couple of mediocre seasons, that show was really solid. Then you have a dark and gritty Arrow and on the flip side a light and campy Flash. This concept could have easily been applied to the DC Universe with Batman and Superman. But instead all we get is a massively disappointing dark mess.

Finally got around to seeing BvS. What a stinking pile of garbage. Best parts were Batman fight in the warehouse and Wonder Woman fighting Doomsday. That's about it. Snyder is truly a hack.

Super girl picked up for season 2 but by CW. Expect a less colorful show and worse special effects. At least crossovers with Flash/Arrow will be easier now.
