My brother works at Beverly hills rental car, and he actually met oj Mayo in person, long story short the guy was a complete a hole to my brother and spoke with attitude. I believe buddy is a great person off the court compared to oj.... But anyways I'd take buddy if we had the 3rd pick, move jc to the 6th man
As it stand today, if we had the 3rd pick and we didn't end up trading it I would also definitely take him. Jim said he likes the number of young prospects we already have. Buddy is still young but with 4 years in college and what his skill set brings I think you have to take him. Yes, the need really isn't there especially if we still have Lou and bring back JC, but you can never have enough scorers.
Character counts for so much, but they're very similar players. Extraordinarily similar even. If anything OJ was even more talented than Hield which would lend to his attitude being different. For what it's worth, I've heard OJ is a good person too even if he's not looked at as a boyscout like Hield is. Either way, I didn't say Hield WOULD be OJ Mayo, but given that Hield is almost the exact same size and weight and plays such a similar game I'm not so sure that fear can be dismissed easily.
sounds like a much harder worker Kobe-esque in effort. Not sure I've heard that about Mayo, but could be wrong. Also not a knucklehead, so seems to me to be the type of guy that will find a way to have a 10 year career in this league with that type of shooting ability. The right coach will get that guy open.
Or the wrong coach won't. If he ends up in Philadelphia are we still talking about him so positively? Everyone was sure of the high character in Okafor before the draft. There were rumors maybe of a lack of intensity, but not a bad kid. Then all of a sudden he's fighting fans in the streets. I like Hield, but I'm not going to get carried away either. He's still an undersized shooting guard and those don't typically do great in the NBA. I think his ceiling is maybe JJ Redick or so. That's a good NBA player, but not necessarily the kind of savior we were maybe looking for in the draft.
I sincerely hope that's what Buddy gets, but if we're getting JJ Redick at #3, I want to trade that pick.
Looks like we're trading it anyway www.morningnewsusa.com/lakers-paul-george-bill-simmons-2376001.html
That would be a tough trade to turn down from our point of view, I suppose you would have to think will Russell get to the level of PG? Or do you just wait until PG is a free agent in 2 years time.
Lakers name is what's selling the paper . We'll hear every top FA name connected to the Lakers one way or the other.
I think we wait 2 years because Bird won't be dealing PG for what we have to offer. As per usual we tend to overvalue our players.
Yep. That was the final nail in the probably-not-really-cracked-open coffin of that idea. They fired Vogel so that they could keep George and build around him.
I agree. My first choice would be to trade the pick but if we happen to keep it I'm okay with a not down shooter when arguably the two best players in the draft would go 1 and 2.
if it's #3, yes. if it's #1 or #2, no for me. i still think russell has a chance to be as impactful as george at some point. and the 1 or 2 has at least 50/50 odds of doing so, imo. typically, i'm a bird in the hand guy, but that's a pretty enticing bush. wait...
