If we did get a top 2 pick and one of those guys I would be thrilled. But the question posed is what I'd give up for George, and when you trade for a star, you have to give up a lot. George isn't Kevin Love, where all it took was the #1 pick because he never accomplished anything. He takes his teams to the playoffs, and he just averaged 27 PPG in a 7 game series. If we were offered PG for JC, Randle and Simmons/Ingram, I have a hard time not doing it, because I haven't seen a second of them in the playoffs, and I have seen quite a big of PG now, not sure any of them ever get to his level. It would be hard to give up all that, but I'd have to do it, he's a true franchise player.

I like your way of looking at this situation. Throw in as untouchable Randle (younger and better than Barkley in his rookie year and in the open court) and let's roll with what

    come up with.

Y'all are crazy. I'd give up literally everything I have, material and otherwise, to take on the stresses of being an NBA GM. :D

I'm listening to Max and Marcellus right now and they are talking the same banter of "would you trade so and so for PG, etc."

So it got me thinking and would like to invite anyone who wishes to participate to respond to this mini game we will play.

The game is, the Lakers win the lottery and get the number 1 pick. YOU are the GM of the Lakers and all other teams hear you are shopping the pick plus any other players. The following teams call and send you an offer and say, "take it or leave it!". As Lakers GM, which deals would you be willing to take? My response is in bold.

Indiana calls and offers Paul George for #1, D'Angelo, Julius.
    Take it

Sacramento calls and offers Demarcus Cousins for #1, D'Angelo, Nance.
    Leave it

Chicago calls and offers Jimmy Butler for #1, Julius, Clarkson.
    Leave it

Milwaukee calls and offers Giannis Antekoutumpo for #1, D'Angelo, Julius.
    Take it

Washington calls and offers John Wall for D'Angelo, #1, Nance.
    Leave it

Houston calls and offers James Harden for #1, D'Angelo, Nance.
    Take it

New Orleans offers Anthony Davis for #1, D'angelo, Julius, Clarkson, Nance.
    Take it

OKC offers Westbrook for #1, D'Angelo, Julius, Clarkson
    Take it

Portland offers Lillard for D'Angelo, #1, Nance.
    Leave it

Clippers offer Griffin for Julius, #1, Clarkson, Nance.
    Leave it

Warriors offer Klay Thompson for #1, D'Angelo, Nance.
    Leave it

Give me Westbrook because he's the best player. Dude had more triple doubles in a season since argurably the greatest player of all time. Watched him live the other night in San Antonio. There is no player in the league that reminds me of Kobe than Russell. Of course he's nowhere near as good nobody touches a prime Kobe, but in terms of his fiestiness, his competiveness, his ability to single handily take over games, his ability to when he wants to play lock down defense, make plays, just make electric plays, I just think the guy is incredible.

I'd consider the Paul George deal and the Davis deal. That's literally it. And the game is a little weird due to the fact that what we're giving up isn't universal. But too many of those is just too much. Like the Harden trade? Dude, it'd be tough for me to consider Russell in a straight up swap for Harden. I think he's a bad leader and not really a team guy and we'd be giving up Simmons AND Russell? Hell no.

Back to PG13, this is a lot of talk (which admittedly I was apart of earlier) about something that is likely not even true. The Lakers have notoriously been quiet on trades. I think there's zero chance we'd let it leak we are going to make a run at PG13 as it might open the floodgates for other teams to offer up their farms. We don't get Pau Gasol if other teams knew what we were up to. Let's also be quite clear: Indy would likely NEVER give up Paul George unless he was publicly asking out.

Another thing to think about with Paul George, he will be a free agent after two more seasons. Our young core won't be ready until at least then. Maybe we play the long game. Sign Westbrook as a free agent next offseason. Sign George the season after that. Pick up a couple mid tier guys this offseason like Bazemore and Biyombo. Westbrook and George are hitting their prime and joining the now somewhat seasoned Russell and Randle in the starting lineup with a bench of Clarkson, Nance and Bazemore? Yes, it's a long wait. But in two seasons, that could be a ridiculous squad.

Regarding the Lakers trading for Paul George rumor. Something just hit me... Larry Bird would not do any favors like that for the Lakers. If anything, he would send George to Boston for their picks plus players.

I wouldn't do any of those trades. With DAR, JC, Ingram, Nance, and Randle, we'll have the best young core in the entire league. Destined for a dynasty.

    Excuse Me!

Hell No, Giannis is on the up swing but you'd have to be crazy to give up all that for a greatly improved player who is still learning to shoot.

Going back to Paul George, if he's available, you give the Pacers a call and TRY. See what they're asking and if they want to much, back out. A player like PG doesn't come around that often, and if you have the chance to get him, you try.

I would trade #1 + Julius + JC for Giannis, however.
    That dude is that good.

Thank you. He's not a superstar. Not even an All Star yet. Way too much for a guy who's not fully developed yet.
