If we sign Horford and Whiteside (at projected market rates), what's the left in the kitty for a potential third FA this year? And next? Where does that leave us if Westbrook really does pine after a spot playing for the Lakers?

I'm not sure how much I'd want Horford on a max contract.

The cap is going up to 90 next season so we should still have enough for Westbrook.

I believe the projected cap space for us this offseason is about 64 million. Could be about 70 if we don't keep our pick. That would give us enough for about three max deals.

Personally my dream scenario would be KD, Hassan, and Bazemore.

Horford's max this summer would start at roughly 25.3 million dollars.
We're going to have about 60 million available this summer.
Horford for the max would leave us roughly 33.7 million.
That would leave us almost exactly enough for one more max contract (for a player with 10+ years experience) OR
Enough for a max contract (21 or 25.3 million depending on the player's experience level) and a little bit extra.

The cap next season jumps to 117 million meaning the max contracts would be roughly: 28 million, 34 million, or 40 million depending on your experience level.
Russell Westbrook's max would be 34 million.

Given the jump in cap, we'd have to preserve roughly 9-10 million dollars in order to have a full max deal ready for Russell.

For what it's worth Ramona Shelburne said Whiteside wouldn't be a great addition to the locker room and in her opinion he could be playing just for a contract. Ireland was slightly more interested, but still lukewarm.

Both of them liked Horford, but voted that as just a 8/10 move. Ireland says his source in Atlanta isn't high on Horford. The source said that Horford tends to fade in big moments.

Ramona's only 10 rating was for Noah. She loved the idea of bringing in a high character veteran type.

Both of them liked Afflalo as well.

Maybe a change of scenery is needed for Horford. I love what he brings as a leader, but he's getting smaller and smaller when the team needs him to step up. Not necessarily a problem if he's your #2 fish this summer. Also, f*** you Pero Antic! Horford even credited him for the reason he's shooting more 3s this year.

This is good news but I'll hold my enthusiasm. I knew the front office had to at least have a feeling they could off something big.

But, Aldridge was really interested in coming here and we blew that last year. It sounds like we certainly made a great pitch to Luke. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we have addressed all of the itches with our pitch and are able to pull in the guys who want to come here.

With that out of the way, the thought of adding a guy like Noah is really growing on me.

I'll be disappointed if we don't go after Whiteside just because he's not a choir boy. The dude is a talent and his production has been outstanding all year. He'll be great for Randle to cover his defensive effiencies and for Russell catching some of his lasers.

If I was guaranteed a season long healthy Noah, then sure. But he's an injury magnet. Roll the dice on the best raw young talent in Whiteside and let Luke learn his craft and earn his $$$ like Phil did with Rodman.

I don't think Aldridge wanted to come here at all. He wanted to go home to Texas and play for a contender. It was Spurs all the way.

Multiple reports had the Lakers as one of his top choices and there were tons of articles pointing out how bad our presentation was and how much it turned him off to us.

It's not an either or with the names being rolled out. You can sign Noah and a few other players.

I've posted support for signing Whiteside many many times.

Horford or Whiteside would be huge, it started with Luke but we have to keep bringing that sense of legitimacy back.

Doubt that the Lakers were one of his choices, it was more like his agents being based in LA and were giving the Lakers some preferential courtesy. Presentation may have been bad but that wasn't his main concern. He was frustrated not winning in Portland, obviously he wasn't coming to a non-playoff team.
