    @therealdeal Thanx brodie. One more...

How does Adam Warlock play into all of this from the Guardians 2 mid-credit stinger?

Looked like Witch and Thor destroyed the gauntlet there at the end, so if that's the case then the time stone is no more...so turning back time may be out of the question. I got to see it again to see if the stones were in there still or not. Did you remember seeing any stones in it at the end?

Also why is it called infinity war....again, does it have something to do with the time stone?

No worries! I'm a huge Marvel fan and have been since I was a kid. I'm pretty well versed in the lore. I could answer these questions forever.
    1. Warlock doesn't play into this story and will likely be the bad guy in Guardians 3 (before turning good at some point probably). He'll probably be pretty different from his comic counterpart. That movie probably isn't until 2020 though.

    2. I don't think the gauntlet was destroyed and the stones seem to be working still. I think it's just burnt and scarred to show how powerful Thor is. Thanos used the stones to warp out and fix the big hole in his chest so I'm pretty sure all the stones survived.

    3. It's because the stones are called Infinity Stones. They're as old as the big bang so they've been around basically an infinite amount of time. Also until this point, it wasn't clear they could be destroyed so ostensibly they'd last forever too.

Wow mantis of course. I was thinking strange could sever the arm with one of those portal discs like was done earlier to that baddie's arm.

Well he did see 14 million futures, maybe the 1 outcome where they win didn't involve that.

yup. That's why strange gave up the stone despite his promise to tony earlier to let him die vs giving up the stone. Then of course strange tells tony it was the only way.

My suspicion there is that the only timeline in which they won involved Tony living which is why Strange gave up the goose to save Tony.

Interesting that we end up with basically only the original Avengers along with Rocket, Okoye, M'Baku, and Rhodey. Makes sense as it'll probably serve as a send-off for some of these actors. I'm thinking Evans, Johansson, and maybe RDJ are out at this point.

Saw it. Simply put: flat out absolute amazing movie.
How often is it that you see the big bad guy absolutely win it all at the end. Not that I wouldn’t have minded Thanos defeated in some way, maybe not completely, but knowing this is just part one, it would have sort of felt like jumping the shark a bit. This movie ended exactly the way it should have, the good guys giving a valiant effort, some giving up everything they had but still coming up way short with seemingly no clear way to a victory. For me Thanos has become one of my favorite villains in a movie. Of course I root against him due to his goal of mass destruction and death, but when he actually attains it in the end, I’m not really mad about it. The way he goes about his goal is not as a savage mindless monster, more like a genius, methodical, and yet ruthless boss. He was very well written. And the final shot of him sitting back enjoying the sunset after his accomplishment was golden.
Was disappointed we didn’t get to see much of Hulk. I guess since he got his a** handed to him by Thanos he was reluctant to show up again. Hopefully he gets over it by the second movie.
Hopefully we get an explanation as to where Captain Marvel was chilling out at all this time? But I think it’d be perfect to save her for the second movie after it seems like all is lost and no hope for victory, a powerful secret weapon is deployed that could possibly stand up to Thanos and make him bleed more than just a drop of blood. If done right, and I’m sure the Russos won’t fail in that regard, part 2 is gearing up to be absolutely epic. May 2019 can’t get here soon enough.

Late to the party, saw the movie last night. Can't wait for the conclusion next year.
Is there a pattern of selection of who actually perishes in the culling?

Not necessarily, but I think it's definitely no coincidence the originals are left behind. I believe they'll use this A4 event to let anyone who wants off the ride to get off. I imagine that's Evans for sure, possibly Scarlett. I wouldn't be surprised if RDJ was out as well given his age, but he does seem to enjoy the role more than most.

I had heard an interview with either Fiege or the Russos that said Thanos was the main character of this film and that's 100% accurate.

Unlike the movies we've seen thus far, Thanos is actually the one who goes through the hero's journey in this movie.

    1. Ordinary World- starts with one stone so technically this started off screen.
    2. Call to Adventure- he tells us what his call was: the threat of destruction of his home world.
    3. Refusal- he was refused, not the other way around, but it still resulted in catastrophe.
    4. Meeting with the mentor- the timeline isn't perfect, but I believe this is Red Skull.
    5. Crossing the Threshold- I think this is when he decides to attack Xandar. Again the timeline is a little iffy.
    6. Tests- The conflict at Knowhere and tracking the Soul Stone.
    7. Approach to the Inmost Cave- The planet with Gamora and the Soul Stone of course.
    8. Ordeal- Sacrificing Gamora.
    9. Reward- Gaining all the stones.
    10. The Road back- the realm where he sees Gamora as a child.
    11. Resurrection- After Thor attacks him.
    12. Return with the Elixir- Retirement on the farm.

Thanos is the "hero", the protagonist, of this story and if you view it through his eyes, he wins and he accomplishes what the hero was meant to do. He faces down the obstacles and goes through the arch and achieves his goal. Everyone else is really just a trial that the "hero" must face. It's brilliant writing.

All the future's that Strange saw and only one where Tony needed to be alive says alot. There's the obvious reasons for why Tony is important:

First dude to be approached by SHIELD for the Avenger's initiative.
First Marvel Studio production making him the "Godfather" of the team
His Dad was vital in creating the 1st avenger in Cap

But then think about the stuff that led to him getting Thanos's attention. Heck, he even says that he knew everything about Tony and before attempting to kill him, he said "I hope they remember you".

Tony was the guy that took the nuke through the Tesseract portal and into space destroying that Chitari control ship. Without that act of sacrifice, the Avengers probably aren't considered the winners of the Battle of New York. And that obviously got Thanos's attention...

Think of all the sacrifices in this film:
    Gamora-Thanos for the soul stone
Gamora-Starlord but instead there were bubbles
Vision-Witch but Thanos's kill was doper
Strange-Ironman...knew he would turn to dust, but still willingly gave up the time stone
Loki-Thor and I loved his "we have a Hulk" line
Heimdall-Hulk and good thing too, cause Hulk was getting his a** handled (but surprised he didn't send Thor to Earth instead)
(btw, how is Gamora going to tell Quill to kill her to avoid Thanos getting the soul stone, but then tells him where it is, just to save Nebula. If you didn't want your sis to die, then take your own life)

The sacrifice aspect of this movie was front and center (the obvious one being that half the population needed to be sacrificed) and it seems that Strange knew when the time came, that Tony would be that dude to make any sacrifice necessary. I have no idea who he will sacrifice (ie himself, Pepper, Roadie, Cap, his unborn child) but Tony is going to be that dude to create a plan and execute it. It's almost as if it were foreshadowed when Tony laid out his plan on Titan and Quill called it stupid and audibled away from it.

But think of all of Tony's "bad" plans:
Stark tower in the middle of NYC which became the power source Loki needed to open up the Tesseract portal
    Creating Ultron
Disbanding and incarcerating his fellow Avengers by spearheading the Sokovia accords

This dude wants to make things right in the worst way (dreaming about putting this Ironman thing aside to get Pepper pregnant)...for all the wrongs he's caused, he wants to make it right and he's sacrificed himself before, so he's got the right pedigree to be the one to right this whole thing and Strange obviously saw it.

I don't know if he's going to wield the gauntlet, but my prediction is that Stark will get his hands on the Gauntlet and use the soul stone to sacrifice himself for Gamora to appease Thanos OR to use the Time stone to rewind the clock and take the nuke from Avengers 1 out over the sea, and in doing so, sacrificing himself, sparing NYC from getting hit and also avoiding nuking the Chitari mothership which would not get Thanos's undivided attention. Cause if Thanos hadn't noticed, then he would not have taken more of an invested interest in taking on the personal task of collecting all the infinity stones. Meanwhile, with Tony gone, the Avengers wouldn't be distracted from other threats like Ultron and the Sokovia accords...they would instead use Tony's death (like Coldson's) to galvanize their efforts in going after the perpetrator that armed Loki with the staff in the first place. The Avengers would instead have all their attention and resources focused on Thanos, which in turn prevents the Infinity War from ever happening.

Or my theory could just be full of s***...either way, who do I have to sacrifice for it to be May 2019?

I think the main theme from the movie is sacrifice, it comes back over and over again.

The Avengers aren't willing to sacrifice the one man they need to in Vision. Thanos is willing to sacrifice his own daughter to get what he needs.

As for Stark picking up the gauntlet, I think that'll be Nebula honestly. I think she sacrifices herself to bring back her sister.

I'm of the opinion that with all the history between Tony and Cap will be fighting alongside each other at the end and will sacrifice themselves together.

    OW= "Opening Weekend".

So far, Infinity War is putting up unprecedented Box Office numbers.

Infinity War actually took over The Force Awakens opening weekend domestic record of 249 million (Infinity War made 257.8 million).

It also out grossed Justice League's entire theatrical run (657.9 million) in just 6 days (784.9 million).

In fact, Infinity War is expected to be the fastest billion dollar movie ever by making a billion dollars either before Friday or on Friday night (10 days) which would beat The Force Awaken's 12 days.

I would love to see an Infinity War commercial this week that says, "Infinity War is the #1 movie in Bolivia!"
