I wish we could cut Deng for him.

Some desperately needed shooting from the wing. Would be cool.

Deng could do the honorable thing and retire.

Yeah, you're right. Probably not going to happen.

Deng won't retire. In 2 years he will have accomplished something that has never been accomplished in the major sports league, to be a professional athlete under contract that is also eligible for social security and medicare.

Nah, Nash was just greedy, not 65 years old like Deng.

From what I've heard of Luke Walton he's a big fan of Blake's game. He was saying he knows Blake's shooting coach real well and he's shared some things about Blake and just how hard he works on his game.

I'm not that giddy about Blake, but if we're able to get PG13 for that trade and Blake comes, I'm not going to be mad.

Hmmm, if Blake goes to C Bags maybe we can easier try to pry Hayward from Utah.

I would imagine Hayward's choices are 1. Utah (money) 2. Boston (everything else + money)

    3. Whatever else.

Oh Mouthpiece, you sure know how to get the fan base's attention.

Griffin is definitely a dark horse candidate and we as fans would have to do some juggling to justify appreciating him as a player. Funnily enough, I think Randle is half-way to Griffin already. The only difference is the Clippers have always leaned on Griffin to score and we don't really lean on Randle the same way. Of course, Griffin's crazy explosiveness is another difference, but just the way they play is so similar. All physicality, not a lot of finesse, etc etc.

I think what you do actually is trade Randle/Top 3/Clarkson to Indy (more than fair). That saves you the Hou pick to try to bring in a backup PF. You dangle Ingram/Tarik/Nance Jr. to see if you can get Jimmy Butler. I'd be fine keeping Ingram too, but might as well swing big. Plus you still hold on to Zubac and Russell.

A lot of good ideas.. I just couldn't trade Ingram or Zu. Both play offense and defense, good attitudes and work ethic. Those are the type players I build around.

So, we're trading JC, JR, and a pick for George. Right?

    *19.3 George
    17.2 Deng
    15.3 Mozgov
    *12.0 Ilyasova
    07.6 Brewer
    06.7 Black
    05.6 Russell
    05.5 Ingram
    *03.4 Shelvin Mack
    *03.0 JaVale McGee
    *01.5 Ennis
    01.3 Nance
    01.3 Nwaba
*01.2 28th pick - I take the best Guard available.
    01.1 Zubac

I THINK Ilyasova will go for 12M or less. I think 3M can get McGee, 1.5 for Ennis. I'm not at all sure about Shelvin Mack. We don't need him though; we could add a vet like Aaron Brooks cheap for shooting and distribution purposes. And one twist: if we can move either Deng or Mozgov by packaging the 28th pick for someone on a short deal - I think someone suggested Nicola Pekovic, I'd do it just to free up some $$ for the following seasons.

    Russell/Mack/Ennis
    Ingram/Nwaba/28th pick
    George/Brewer/Deng
    Ilyasova/Nance
    Black/Zubac/McGee/Mozgov

    OR
    Russell/Mack/Ennis
    Ingram/Nwaba
    George/Brewer/Deng
    Ilyasova/Nance
    Black/Zubac/McGee/Pekovic

    Here's the thinking:
Our PG rotation is solid - Russ should have a breakout year 3. Mack's a so-so defender, can initiate or play off ball, and Ennis seems like an adequate 3rd PG.
Ingram slides to the 2, uses his length on D, and slashes to the hoop. Nwaba looks like a solid backup defender.
George, Brewer, and Deng is a deep SF position.
Ilyasova and Nance is a good shooting/defense rotation. I think Ilyasova would thrive in Luke's system.
Black can start in this lineup while Zubac continues to mature (he'll eventually start). McGee give us an athlete who's familiar with the system from GS.

Moving one of the albatrosses is important, as I noted, for the following two seasons - when we have to pay up for some guys. I think that team would win 45 games next season, and it would be positioned to start a long string of playoffs.

Yep...if bos gets biff id think hayward going to bos is even easier, they can make room for 2 max, trade off guys like avery or smart for even more future asset and still have a top 3 pick in tow

i'm an ilyasova fan, too, rodg. but i only take him on a really short deal (two years). his legs are getting old, and when his threeball goes, he becomes worthless.

whatever the case, i want a 4 who can shoot on the roster next year. i actually can't believe we've gone this long without one.

Two years, 12M a season works - and then we can figure things out.
