Remember, Deng was supposed to be the centerpiece to the Kobe deal. Young Deng was really good.

If we want to make a more relevant comparison, maybe Ariza?

shoulder height. kbd's just got a longer neck/head. it's why height isn't as good an indicator of shot blocking ability as standing reach. as folks have said, you don't play with the top of your head.

yeah, my issue is that scouts don't think he can guard the perimeter very well. at his size, he needs to.

I guess I just differ in that I dont think he's incapable, just needs proper coaching and motivation. He has the tools to guard 3-4 in the NBA. Maybe smallball 5 even with his crazy reach.

He's not as lithe or quick as Ariza. Deng is a better comparison. The difference is their approach, not their talent or abilities.

    Hence the Deng comparison.

I have a hard time believing the Doncic stuff. That sounds like spin BS to me.

Mike Schmitz and Zach Lowe said Vlade has made it abundantly clear that he doesnt like Doncic for whatever reason. Most teams think he legitimately hates that kid.

Everything is pointing to the Kings going with Bagley who was the only kid to work out for them.

I think Luka doesn't want to head to Sac and is leveraging his Euro contract to deter Sac from drafting him.

Also it appears Bamba wants no part of Memphis (Marc Gasol related?) Maybe that's why Memphis is looking to move the 4th pick in a Parsons dump. They probably wanted Bamba and then move Gasol accordingly.

But I agree, you can't believe anything right now cause there is just so much spin out there.

That's interesting. I'd heard he did well for the Lakers, but obviously we weren't told about a second workout.

More and more I'm thinking we can move back in this draft if DiVincenzo and Huerter are off the board at #25. That'll make @abeer3 happy.

We could move back and nab 3 solid 2nd rounders that will be minimum contract role players instead of just empty money. Jacob Evans, De'Anthony Melton, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, and Rawle Alkins are all guys I'd love to have.

    No, they're really different players.

Honestly, I see Deng. I see people comparing him to Luc Mbah a Moute, but I think Moute was a little swifter than Diop. Diop is taller and longer than Kuzma, but doesn't appear to be able to shoot as well and definitely isn't as creative going to the rim.

Looking at the way most mocks seem to be going, I could definitely see us picking Diop if we don't trade down.

Sadly I can’t read LFR’s piece here, because I’m not a subscriber to the Athletic. I am glad for Pete though, that’s a huge opportunity for a guy who quit his job to make awesome Laker videos for us.
